What with the craving for violence and power, I feel like if Nero wasn't adopted into Credo and Kyrie's rather tame and moral household, he would've grown up to be a demon hybrid serial killer. Just me?

    Argosax desperately needs changes

    Posted: 14 Oct 2020 01:28 PM PDT

I saw the post "DMC Story changes" by Sh0ck_Master616, but I haven't been on reddit for a while and was too late to the party to share my thoughts. But I'll do so regardless in my own post, since I've been strongly inspired by the aforementioned user. Thank you for that, if you read this.

    Now then...

I feel like a good majority of the DMC fandom keeps mentioning on how the series seems to ignore DMC2 almost completely, but I think that's untrue. Balrog's existence already defeats that statement. The fact that the Majin Form returned as the Sin Devil Trigger Form also speaks volumes. While Itsuno didn't want to be known as the director of DMC2, he still saw potential in the concepts that the game contains and brought them back in DMC5 in a new fashion. And that's what I wanna talk about. The potential of reimagining Argosax and my own ending of the DMC2 Remake (pls make it happen Itsuno).

First, I wanna talk about the similarities Sh0ck_Master616 pointed out. The conjured swords from DSD kinda do look like Argosax' armblades. He even summons them in a way that it resembles Argosax' wings when he first appeared as the Despair Embodied. One nice catch but I think Itsuno used more from Argosax than he would let on.

Shift (Teleporting side dodge) and Advent (Teleporting to the opponent) look like Argosax' usual way of moving around the area.

The Luce looks like an overpowered combined version of Argosax' homing projectiles and raining energy needles.

Demolition (the black hole attack) could also allude Argosax' ability to bend time and space like he did to the town of Vie de Marli, but in Dante's case on a much smaller scale.

Unrelated to the SDT, but even Argosax 3-hit-combo looks like a floating version of Dante's Rebellion Combo A. Just wanted to point that out as well.

See? It's almost like the SDT is Dante using his full potential AND Argosax' moves in his own modified way. And that's exactly what leads me to my idea of how Dante's and Argosax' battle should go down in canon.

First of all, NO Argosax the Chaos. No amalgam of multiple bosses. Just Argosax in all of his sunshine of hell glory. Also Dante shouldn't beat him in his base form. While that can serve as a testimony to his own power, it severely undermines Argosax' reputation as Mundus' rival. Not to mention that Mundus could become that only AFTER he ate the fruit of the Qliphoth. Argosax should do way better than that. His two best men are the future King of Fire Hell and Sparda's nemesis, so he should be a nigh-insurmountable force to be reckoned with. The perfect, naturally almost-almighty devil king. Dante needed the power of Sparda to defeat Mundus after all and he didn't have Sparda in DMC2.

In the past, just like Mundus, Argosax has been sealed instead of killed, with one important difference being that Sparda managed to beat Mundus alone. To beat Argosax, Sparda required assistance from Matier and her clan, that were supposedly a bunch of battlehardened half-humans. Now that the timeline changed with DMC2 occurring before DMC4, I just think that the power spike for Dante in DMC2 is just way too high, even if he trained diligently. So the fight should be more even or Dante should be overwhelmed by Argosax until he uses Devil Trigger.

The ending I have in mind is Dante struggles hard against the Despair Embodied even with the DT active. Through rage and desperation he taps much more heavily into his demon power and unwittingly discovers the SDT. But unlike DMC5, his top horns aren't as big and he's not coated with hellfire. His form just a very dark gray and glows red on the spots where the fire should be. More like the Majin Form in DMC2. Also Dante is not in control during that state. He entered his full demon form with the desire to kill Argosax and enters a full battle frenzy as a result. Dante and Argosax fight brutally for a little while and finally stab each other. Both struggle but Argosax doesn't seem to be dying eventually unlike Dante. He seems to be truly immortal, even though he isn't entirely unphased by the Rebellion. Untold pain drives Dante to the brink of madness and he's losing more and more stamina. Argosax almost succeeds to break free until something very unexpected by both sides happened. The Rebellion starts to glow in a tinge of blood red and Argosax joins in Dante's screams of agony as he feels his essence getting dragged into the Devil Arm. Until nothing was left, Argosax was gone and the Rebellion's light was replaced by the glow of Argosax' hellfire as if the sword has been freshly smithed. The glow eventually stopped and on the blade of the Rebellion are the swirling patterns that you could see better if you looked closely in DMC5. In my reimagination the Rebellion's blade didn't have that before. Just a clean blade.

That is how I would justify Dante's massive growth he shows in DMC4 and the look plus the moveset of the SDT after Dante created his personal sword in DMC5.

Now if he has essentially Argosax the Devil Arm, why doesn't he seem to show that power in DMC4 or why did he lose badly against Urizen the first time even with the Sparda Devil Arm? It would be a new post in itself, trying to deliver explanations on how the rest of the continuation could be kept as it is. Which is why I'm gonna answer those questions to those who are interested in the threads here. I'm really eager to discuss that. This had to be one of the biggest inspirations I've had in a very long time.

What Is This Devil May Cry Demo Disk?

What Is This Devil May Cry Demo Disk?

I bought a copy of RE Code Veronica from my local game shop for $5 and I was curious what this Devil May Cry Demo Disc is that it came with? I did a google search and I can't find anything on it really. Most of the demo discs I find online don't really look like this one? I was confused so I decided to post it in here. I can find info saying it's rare but I don't really know anything about it? Did I just find gold? I'm just trying to learn as much as I can about this disc.
