    Playing through the series for the first time, need advice

    Title!

    When I was a teenager, I played thru DMC4 without playing thru any of the others though I forgot a lot about the game. So, I saw the entire franchise is on sale on PSN right now for $50 and just bought all of it. I plan to start with DMC1 tonight.

    I just have a couple of questions. Going thru the games for the first time, is there anything I should be aware of? Story and secrets I might miss, optional content I should do? I also know one of the DMC games is notoriously awful. I can't remember if it was 2 or 3. What's so bad about it, and is it worth playing at least once for the story or better off skipping it?

    I played DmC: Devil May Cry and I actually did like it, though I'm excited to play the actual series now once people have given me some "guidance" on how to best enjoy the games for the first time. Thanks.

    EDIT: Oh, also, is it advisable to do every game on the hardest difficulty your first run of it? I play most games on the hardest difficulty and am pretty decent at action games like DMC.

    I just did my first playthrough of DMC4 and I loved it. I'm definitely going for the platinum but I will say the secret missions were garbage. You almost need a gimmick to pass most of them.

    I have become a huge fan of this franchise recently and am really loving all of them (disregarding 2 obvs) and am playing through 4 for the first time and am just getting pissed off. All the enemies aside from the scarecrows are annoying as hell, why do most normal enemies have shields? It ruins the otherwise smooth combat, most enemies seem to not even attack me but are just there for me to constantly be jumping over to stab a couple times in the back before they insta turn and block again or the ghosts that jump behind walls long enough to reset and make it so I have to start grabbing them through their cloke again. I want to play more but am getting too annoyed with half of the enemies so anyone got any tips or tricks? I'm probably missing something but no idea what.

    Guys i have problem with this help me After i attack an enemy with fullhouse and then jumpcanel it and after using rainstorm i will stay in my position what the problem?im not fast enough?should i swich to GS style at the same time i wanna move above and pass them like combo videos Thanks

    As a new fan, this is something I've always wondered. I know its considered the series high point but just how successful was it when it came out? Like what modern game (Let's say last 2 years) would you compare it to in regards to the impact it first made?
