Posted: 09 Nov 2021 06:11 AM PST The other day I watched a video series on the history of First Person Shooters and thought it was interesting how the genre evolved. Then I decided to do a bit of research on the history of the hack and slash genre and realized that DMC established a lot of the things that we would come to see in the genre over the years. Before DMC the hack and slash genre existed but there was nothing like DMC at the time. I didn't play DMC when it came out because I was 4 years old, but imagine it must have been a bit of a revolution in the action games. To think that GoW, Ninja Gaiden and many others came out inspired from Kamiya's vision of action game What do you guys think? [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 09 Nov 2021 02:49 PM PST Most game series that I know when they make a bad game in a series, they very rarely can come back with the next entry and revive the franchise and put it right back on the right course. But holy moly has DMC done it so well and not only have they done it well, but did it TWICE. The change from DMC2 to DMC3 and the DmC reboot to DMC5 is just unreal how much of a shift in the right direction they made. DMC3 and DMC5 are considered, atleast in my opinion, some of the absolute top tier 3rd person action games ever created and when compared to their predecessors, its just insane how much of a shift they made. The respect I have for these devs is through the roof compared to a lot of other companies that just fall down the rabbit hole of greedy slimy microtransaction elements like Ubisoft has. I miss the old AC games, and now they have gotten to a point where they specifically make the games they put out super grindy and then have a microtransaction shop where you can buy IN GAME EXP with REAL MONEY to proceed. The only microtransaction elements in DMC have been red orbs and cosmetics like alternate skins and in DMC5, they literally added a weapon that allows you to farm crazy amounts of red orbs from enemies so the microtransactions didn't matter at all. I'm not counting Vergil as a microtransaction, the value you get from him is way more than some shitty red orbs. I'm making this post just to appreciate the time, effort, integrity and talent these devs have for the series when compared to a large amount of big gaming companies out there.
