    About V....

    Posted: 14 Nov 2021 11:38 AM PST

I feel like Itsuno made V to be a beginner friendly character but one with a lot of depth. You don't need to be an expert to be cool and stylish with him, but you can pull of some amazing looking combos with him if you get good enough.

I hear he's a button mashing character, but at the end of the day you can button mash with any character, it's up to you to make it look cool.

    Still a great character

If the Sparda family had a pet

Currently, the way it's been written, I don't see V being able to come back in story-canon.

Tl;Dr - Title. The way DMC5 was written, there is no genuine way to bring V back, without killing Vergil.

My best friend and I were talking about DMC's story and V. She is hoping V comes back in 6. I do too, as I love his character, but I just don't see it happening canonically with the way it's been currently written, unless 1. They do a major ass-pull, or 2. They have Vergil sacrifice himself, releasing V as a way to survive.

I don't see them doing this to our favorite motivated man, because he is a fan favorite and it would likely reduce DMC6's popularity. However, in order to seal the portal to the Demon Realm from the other side, it could require a blood sacrifice.

We know from DMC3 that Sparda sacrificed a human priestess to seal the Demon Realm and his power with it, so it's definitely a possibility that blood - human blood - would be required. How much is needed? Probably not enough for death, but who knows. I could see this happening: Vergil and Dante make their way through the underworld, slaying demons, bonding, forming a brotherly relationship again, and then at last they get to the seal itself, and find it requires a sacrifice. Dante immediately decides he will do it, but Vergil, thanks to V, feels like he has to atone for his crimes. They argue about it, and Vergil decides to take initiative and stab himself with Yamato. As Dante stands there, unable to do anything, Vergil just grins and V is released again. The seal's requirement is fulfilled, V retains Vergil's memories, essentially carrying his legacy, and Vergil's demon half is what literally dies. This time, due to Vergil's intent when stabbing himself, V doesn't disintegrate - he survives, and is perhaps able to wield Yamato himself.

Another way I could see any form of V existing is internal monologue. Like, V comes through within Vergil's mind. Otherwise, we would just see V within Vergil himself - his behaviors, emotions, acceptance of his weaknesses.

Finally, while I don't see this happening, it could be interesting if both Dante and Vergil had to separate their human and demon forms - and then re-merge with themselves later. I don't know how or why that would happen though.

It's far more likely V will get the Vergil treatment and become a non-canon playable character DLC for special edition. I'd definitely buy that because I truly enjoy V and his gameplay. But I'm still kinda sad that both V and Vergil cannot exist in the same room together, unless they do some major ass-pull, but that would require even more retconning than previously done.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts. Comments and discussion appreciated.
