Some details about Dante's office throughout the games.

Originally posted on Twitter here and here.

Dante doesn't have a pool table in DMC4 and 5, most likely because his office in these games is smaller compared to the others.

In DMC1 and 2 there's a bookshelf, or perhaps I should say cabinet, in which books were kept. In 3 he doesn't have any sort of shelving unit from what I have seen, and in 4 and 5 there he has one with boxes and books on the shelves, although he has more books on the floor.

In DMC1, an interesting thing about his office was that on the floor there was a symbol which I guess it could have been a ward against demons, but nothing happened to Trish, so it could be that it was just for aesthetic purposes or maybe used for something else.

Dante has a poster of this woman (Dominique Tereshkova) in Devil May Cry 1, 2 and 3. In DMC4 the image of her is in the magazine that Dante was reading. In the first two games, the poster is in the office, but in DMC3...it's on the bathroom door.

This is the image from Dante's magazine in DMC4. (I took a picture from the artbook I have). "She has served as the emblem girl in the Devil May Cry series. In the future the may request stripe shank!"

I was like, what the heck is "stripe shank?" I didn't find a meaning for it. I think this was a case of broken English.
Oh and it's not a typo by me, it does say "the" may request...Most likely it was meant to be "she".

The name of the woman on the poster, from what I read, is a reference to one of the characters in Space Cobra, named Dominique, who was a partner for the main character. Hideki Kamiya was inspired by Space Cobra when he created Dante. The last name Tereshkova, according to what I found on Google, could be a reference to Valentina Tereshkova, the first female astronaut.
Space Cobra took place in...space. They gave the woman names of a fictional character and a real person that had something to do with space.

I just accidentally overwrited my over 50 hour save as Dante

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 07:03 PM PDT

I just beat dmc 3 after 50 hours of getting all the blue orbs, buying all of the purple orbs, farming for skills, etc. I just fucking overwrought my save file cause I wanted to play as Vergil. Now, I have to fight that annoying Arkham boss again and go through that hellish parkour mission. I have to do all the jester fights all over again. I have to scour my way through all of the mission looking for blue orb fragments only to realize I don't have the proper devil arm for the statue. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

The best official version of “Devils Never Cry”

I read two comments about DMC5 that amused me

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 07:11 AM PDT

I found these in some Youtube comment sections.

One said that the game was "rushed", but as far as I know, it has been in the works since at least 2015.

The other one said that the story was "written damn badly" and the only reason fans liked it is because they are "desperate" for the old games. So gameplay doesn't matter? Is it because DMC5 isn't a cinematic, walkie-talkie game with over-the-shoulder camera and unskippable cutscenes, with questions about the human condition or something?

    Pandora and Lucifer

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 02:09 PM PDT

Hi. So I've read in somewhere that Pandora, like Artemis, was made by a demon called Machiavelli. Where can I find the source material for this? Gilgamesh was already revealed as a demonic-material in DMC5, not a demon, so could this mean that Lucifer was also made by Machiavelli?

We talk a lot about what a Devil Sword Vergil would look/act like, but what about a Devil Sword Nero?

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 06:55 PM PDT

Yes, I've used the Devil Sword Nero mod, but visually it was just Red Queen with a DSD texture. The whole point of DSD's design is that it's evocative of Dante's DT/SDT form (scales, leather, and rock material with a "volcanic" glow). If a DSN was made, what would it look like? What new abilities would it grant? Most importantly, how would it mesh with Nero's existing aesthetic?

    About Auto-Assist...

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 01:13 PM PDT

I know EVERYONE says you shouldn't use auto-assist, and I understand why they say that, but I just want to know: will using auto-assist prevent me from reaching SSS rank?

I've played through the game once and I was on human mode, and it was pretty easy, I got as far as SS rank and I'm pretty sure auto-assist was off. But now I'm on Son of Sparda mode and AA is off and I can't do ANYTHING.

I'm not trying to be like, the Best Player In The World at this game, I just want to enjoy it. But I would also like to be like...yknow, good at it. So does anyone know if AA prevents reaching these ranks? Do I just need to practice more with AA off? Or change the difficulty? Any tips would be appreciated!

I finished DMC 3 for the first time and as my first DMC game, Dante is probably the most fun video game character I’ve ever played

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 09:25 PM PDT

So DMC 3 was my first DMC game, got into it by unironically seeing "Vergil Chair" and thought, why not?

And what I got, was something so fun and so damn challenging. I was going in thinking this wasn't gonna be as challenging and I got my ass whooped LOL (Died 30+ times)

But it was so damn satisfying getting better at this game, and Dante is SO FUCKING FUN, a feeling I haven't felt in a long time since I played a lot of JRPGs for the past few months. Dante is up there with Mario and Sonic in how he feels in this game (Which means he controls amazing). The options you have, the learning curve throughout it, and it doesn't even include style switching from 4 and 5.

I've been meaning to try DMC for over a year, and after finally playing it, this is probably the most fun game I've played in terms of gameplay. I'll definitely play and buy 4 and 5 if I have the money cause these games are way TOO fun

    mission 20 dmc5 vergil dlc

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 04:01 PM PDT

Hey, i was just wondering how do you avoid getting hit by dante's sin devil trigger judgement attack? i have been trying to do dmgless runs on DMD, but i always get fucked in the ass by that attack. If you attempt to run away he just teleports to you anyway... Is the only way to avoid it to do a finisher attack like hell on earth and get the i-frames?

    Frame Data?

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 07:41 PM PDT

Hello! Does anyone, by any chance, have a spreadsheet or google doc or something with frame data from one of the devil may cry games? preferably 5 or 4, but any of them will do, really. Need it to use as frame of reference. Pun unintended.
