Which DMC game has the harshest ranking system?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 03:52 PM PST

You thought you played perfectly, but it turns out the game decided that was only a B rank.

Which game in the series do you think has the most unforgiving post mission ranking system?

Even with style and weapon Switching, Arkham is just a troll of a boss. He makes Jester look good.

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 05:00 PM PST

Playing on my Switch after a couple months and this absolute failure of a boss fight is still annoying.

No proper telegraphs, little homing missiles, the annoying damn fish things that are both the easiest and hardest to waste despite their pitiful health that chip me to death even though i should be clearing them out with Agni and Rudra.

Can someone give me a cheese strat here? Cuz this boss is just stupid.

Weakening Barrier between Demon and Human world.

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 10:38 AM PST

    Part theory/discussion

After watching the timeline described in DMC 5 something suddenly jumped out to me.

According to the breakdown given, they made a point of mentioning that the barrier Sparda created 2000 years ago was weakening. They also made a point of saying that people had forgotten demons even existed since they essentially vanished from the human world. Yet plenty of demons have been popping up in the DMC world since Mundus sensed it happening and sent demons through to attack Eva, Vergil and Dante.

So the barrier has been weakening, significantly since then, and demons have been coming through at such a rate that demon hunters can make a living out of fighting them - moreso now after the Qlipoth. That means that the barrier will have to be repaired soon, or humanity might very well be overrun.

If I remember correctly Sparda sealed of the two worlds by sacrificing a human priestess and part of his power. Now considering this is a Japanese story and the whole premise of DMC's focus is on family, I have a sneaking suspicion that this task will fall to Vergil, and this might very well be a reason why they brought him back.

No one knows more about portals and barriers than he does and considering he now has a child, he might very well be willing to sacrifice his own life if it means Nero, Kyrie and their children can have a good one. It will help create the redemption for Vergil that so many people are demanding, and it will stay within the theme of family and Japanese shounen - the child surpassing the father, the father dying to protect the child - and it might explain in part why Sparda left the Yamato to Vergil. Maybe he knew what their futures held?

Either way, the matter of the barrier will have to be addressed soon. Perhaps it might be a good plot for DMC 6 and a way to bring the fighting brothers in the underworld back into the human world.

Anyway just a late night thought. Maybe I forgot a few things here. Please feel free to correct me.
