Is Dante considered badass in-universe? Posted: 16 Oct 2020 06:26 PM PDT Weird question, but Dante is always a joy to watch in the cutscenes, but he seems to be 'cool' in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way. He's cool because he's nigh unstoppable demon-slayer who doesn't take himself seriously. He has the confidence and lack of shame that allows him to act like a dork. We love him, but how do the people in his universe view him? We see Nico fangirling over him, but he doesn't seem to be that highly regarded by anyone else. A lot of Dante's behaviors are entertaining in a meta-sense because he doesn't really have an audience in the story to watch him fart around the way he does. There's also the fact that Dante often cuts between being deadly serious and acting like an over-grown child. I dunno I just think, contextually speaking, being a fly on the wall while Dante is being Dante would be very strange. There's also a lot of humor in the fact that most of his enemies don't even react to his silliness, as if they don't even really notice it (Berial, for example, sees Dante just sitting on his tail and fanning the flames and Berial is essentially just like "Oh, hey look it's Sparda's kid."), but in-universe how do these people feel about him? Nero behaves far more naturally. He's an arrogant, crass, little punk (with a heart of gold) and his enemies and allies acknowledge this. But... in the case of Dante it's like they don't even register his behavior. Anyway, sorry I'm rambling. [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Oct 2020 03:02 AM PDT I am studying games design at college I have an assignment where I need to create a survey on a video game/franchise. I went with the Devil May Cry franchise. You don't have to have played the game but it would be recommended that you have, or at the very least be familiar with it and have seen gameplay of it. Thanks for taking the time to read this and thinking about taking the survey. https://forms.gle/eTxf4TrnfqkYVe496 [link] [comments]

DMC 1 Remake: Legendary Dark Knight Posted: 16 Oct 2020 05:24 PM PDT With the success of DMC5 and the Resident Evil remakes, I think that a remake for DMC 1 is in the cards. With this hope in mind, there is one thing that I have been working out in my head for some time; how exactly will the DSS and the Sparda DT work? I, of course, have come up with some ideas on how to approach this. While one of my crazy ideas was having a Sparda DT Stand similar to Nero, I can guarantee that there is a negative 110 percent chance of that happening. Instead, I have 2 options: 1). The Sparda DT simply replaces the regular DT. This would especially work if all the other weapons have their own DT appearance. This is the easiest to implement and the most likely option. Or 2). The Sparda DT functions like a Sin DT. I would call it the Legendary Dark Knight Devil Trigger, or LDK DT for short. Considering how many of the Sin DT's moves are references to Sparda, it would make sense that those moves are derived from Sparda's power. While I prefer the latter, there is an issue that arises. Sharing the moves between the LDK DT and the Sin DT would undermine the uniqueness of both. The solution would be to have the LDK DT have its own unique moves, though some overlap wouldn't hurt. I think this would be the more fun option. Another thing that needs to be discussed is the DSS itself. Would it function like it does in 5, or would they give it the DSD treatment and integrate Swordmaster moves into its base attacks? Once again, I would go with the latter. My reasoning is that the Force Edge and Alastor would likely function similar to Rebellion, so having 3 swords function the same would be somewhat lazy. This begs the question, if the DSS functions like the DSD, what would be added to Swordmaster to compensate. Conjure swords wouldn't make sense, so instead, I thought of another idea that I think I will catch some flack from. My idea is to have the Sparda have 2 other modes in Swordmaster, similar to King Cerberus. The two other modes are actually inspired by the reboot: an axe mode and a scythe mode. In the reboot, the Rebellion could morph itself into the Arbiter Axe and the Osiris Scythe. It was something I thought was cool, and could work in the main series. With the Sparda being able to change its edge, this is the perfect way to integrate this idea. We already see the Sparda become a scythe in Prop/Shredder, and I believe that one of Trish's combos in 4 SE has the Sparda take a shape that is similar to an axe. It's an ability of the Sparda that is underutilized, and this is the way it can be utilized. In terms of gameplay, these 2 other modes add a whole new variety of attacks that will keep the style meter up. In terms of their utility, the scythe is fast and great at hitting multiple enemies at once, while the axe is slower and more damaging, particularly against bosses. I sense that the scythe mode best extends combos, while the axe best finishes combos. I think it be a fun new layer of complexity to Dante's moveset, as long as it's designed properly, which I would have no doubts that it would be. While I have many ideas for what they could do in a DMC 1 remake, including reintroducing and improving the Dark Slayer style, this is the idea that excites me the most. I expect to to catch some hate from this, but it just feels good to finally get my ideas out there. If you have any ideas yourself, please share them in the comments, I love to engage with other creative minds. Sorry for the extensive post, and thanks for reading! [link] [comments] |
