So I just finished playing DMC 2 (Dante & Lucia) for the first time...

    Posted: 01 May 2020 07:19 PM PDT

A while ago. I had never played a DMC game ever in my life and I've always wanted to play the ever so popular DMC series to know what it's all about. So I was going to play DMC 5 but decided to start the series from the beginning through the HD collection. So I finished DMC 1 and I liked the game! The fighting was fun and immediately knew the game wasn't "easy" and I really liked that. Doing combos isn't as easy as many other games. And when I got used to the controls and everything the game was really fun. I finished the game and it was time to procced to the next DMC game. Now before I started the series I searched online for the order to play the series in and I read that a lot of people hate DMC 2 and some people were saying to skip the game, but I thought to myself I have to have my own opinion on the game. I mean who knows I might enjoy it even for a little bit.

Okay hopped into the game as Dante for my first playthrough of the game and I just want to say that I'm not really good at reviewing games or anything but as I was going through the game I tried to point out the pros and cons that I could find which you can totally disagree on. Also I couldn't help my self but compare it to DMC 1 because that's the game that I was directly coming from and I liked. Sorry for not listing many points but those are the things that I managed to think about:

    Pros:

    • You can now see the HP of your enemies.
    • The new wall run is cool and fun.
    • The new animations look cool.
    • You can now switch ranged weapons and you can even do it mid-air which is awesome!
    • There are some cool and stylish combos with Dante using the shotgun.
    • I like that you can now customize your DT a little bit with the amulet. I don't like it a lot, but it's still something.

    Cons:

    • Menus look and feel like a downgrade...
    • Small thing, but it annoyed me. Why did they remove the name of his hand guns (Ivory & Ebony)?!?! They had a name why remove it? Now it just says "Handguns". It just removes the personality from his unique handguns...
    • The world seems dull... I don't know I like the level design of the first game more. Might be personal preference.
    • You can't change the controls preset unlike DMC 1 which had preset A&B (Difference being the sword and gun attack buttons are swapped)
    • The fighting doesn't feel as "fun" from the start is it felt in DMC 1 (Mainly but not solely because I couldn't do an air combo with the guns directly like DMC1)
    • The map doesn't freaking show where I'm at (I literally did not use the map at all unlike DMC 1 where I used it a couple of times)
    • I actually didn't realize this until after I finished the game, but Dante doesn't have "different" weapons like DMC 1... He only has 3 types of sword that are just like long but weak and short but strong etc. In DMC 1 I liked that I had sword and gauntlets which actually felt different to play with.
    • The dialogue and voice acting are dull and uninteresting. But I don't really know it could be just me....
    • Story is just meh...
    • Dante's character is so uninteresting to me. It just feels like they made him to be just yeah he's "badass" and "cool" and just pointing his guns at everything that comes in his face... Wait... "Pointing his guns at everything..." Speaking of that...

    • And here comes the biggest problem with the game in my opinion. The difficulty and ranged weapons balance. This game felt very very unbalanced and could just be beaten by spamming Handguns and Rocket Launcher from a far. Like I mean come on... Remember that chopper boss fight? Yeah truly a B O S S fight... I swear I stood in the same place that I was spawned in after the cutscene and stayed there spamming the attack button till the end of the fight. Like you can't even fight it any other way than just spamming that attack button from far away. Even the 1st stage of the final boss was just spamming Rocket Launcher till each part of the boss died.

Now something that I have to mention is that after I finished the game with Dante. As soon as I started my playthrough with Lucia. Playing as Lucia felt more fun. Also I wasn't just able to spam my ranged weapon like I did with Dante because throwing knives weren't as strong. Especially with the "Plutonian" boss fight. With Dante I only spammed my Rocket Launcher. Here I actually went in close ranged and started doing combos and dodging his attacks instead of me just sitting in the corner throwing Rockets while he repeats the same move that doesn't reach me... Okay seems all good with Lucia... Wait... they did not just add an annoying underwater level where you just spam your bowgun... they even added a useless boss fight... oh COME ON.

In the end. Now I know why a lot of DMC fans aren't really fond of DMC 2, but oddly enough I was going through some DMC 2 videos on YouTube and I actually found some people who like DMC 2! I would say that you shouldn't really skip this game. I mean try it and you might actually like it. And in my opinion I think that if you're a fan of the series or plan to play the whole series. You have to have your own personal opinion on the game. If you want a rating I would personally rate it as a 5/10 (Playable) based on this picture: http://prntscr.com/s9i1jk

If you've read my post please tell me what you think. And thank you so much for reading! I really appreciate it <3 !!!

Now... Here comes the long awaited... the praised... DMC 3: Dante's Awakening. I Can't wait!!!

    Vergil in animefighter

    Posted: 01 May 2020 06:09 AM PDT

I played Devil May Cry for the first time and started with 5. Here's what happened.

    Posted: 01 May 2020 11:43 AM PDT

Had a dream last night about a secret mission in DMC3 titled "Vergil 4".

    Posted: 01 May 2020 04:20 PM PDT

As the title says, the mission was basically a Vergil boss fight.

However, unlike the three encounters of Vergil, in this secret mission Vergil had an infinite, always on devil trigger. He will block every single direct attack you make (literally every normal attack). The only way to hurt him is by parrying his attacks and doing a royal release on him, which makes him sit on the ground, giving a small window for the player to deal damage on him before he recovers and blocks your attacks once again (sadly, the player won't be able to juggle him in the air, even if they are as crazy as Donguri). As for the environment (level), it takes place in a very dark bridge with only blue flames on the sides of it as the source of light.

I myself never completed dmc3 100% so if a similar challenge already exists then feel free to call me stupid.
