I was bored and expressing how I prefer Dante over Nero to a friend, and I ended up writing this

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 05:50 PM PDT

I've come to make an announcement:Nero is a bitch ass Devil Hunter.

He exceeded on fucking Kyrie. That's right, he took his stupid fucking sword and he rev'd on Kyrie, and he said his sword was "A blast" and I said it was just "Deadweight".

So I'm making a callout post on my Twitter . Com:Nero the Devil hunter, you got a gay ass sword, it's like Rebellion only gayer. And guess what? Here's what Rebellion looks like: that's right baby, all straight, no engine, no curved blade, look at that it looks like a normal sword.

Nero exceeded on Kyrie so guess what? I'm gonna style on the Saviour. That's right this is what you get, MY SMOCKING SEXY STYLE. Except I'm not gonna style on the Saviour, I'm gonna go higher, I'M STYLING ON URIZEN. HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT DEAD WEIGHT, I'M STYLING ON URIZEN YOU IDIOT

You have twenty three hours before I style on the fucking Earth, get me a slice of pizza and get out of my sight before I style on you too

Ok so yesterday i made a huge response to a topic about DMC5 story but the guy deleted the topic and Since the anwser was nearly an Analysis of DMC5 story and how it link thematicaly to the rest of the series, I figure I could post it here, so people can share if they agree with me or not.

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 11:57 AM PDT

Remember it was originaly a response, so at time the wording can be weird. Have a Nice read.

    ___________

Why they Split vergil in 2, V and urizen? Because it help dwelve deeper in vergil psyche, V is not precisely Vergil human side, but what a broken vergil on the verge of death, discarded of himself because he feel it make him weaker. And that's important because that here de realise vergil truly hate himself, Indeed he discarded his trauma and his humanity but also most of his personnality, urizen only kept the subconscious desire of power of vergil and act more on instinct than as vergil. If you consider that he hates himself for being weak it is truly not exclusive that vergil wanted to protect his familly but was to weak to do so and the fact that his mother Never Come to save him but protected Dante instead was only a confirmation of this feeling, there is realy no contradiction to be honnest. I would also like to point out that from vergil perspective Dante took everything from him. When they were child he had the feeling he took his mother from him, as adult he opposed him constantly and in the end cause him to get stuck in hell and be condemed to 20years of torturing in the hands of mundus (remember those memories were so painful je discarded them specificly in 3separated entity) and in the end if he is on the brink of death it his because Dante beat him so many time that he hasn't enough force to keep going now, from thé perspective of this vergil, Dante represent the cristallisation of all his deepest fear about himself, first of it is a confirmation that he is too weak, but more over as the 2 are Twins and are therefore identicals in their inherent physical strengh and potential, meaning that the problem is himself his litteral view of the World. So at this point Vergil has really no choice but to abandon and confirm all his deepest fear and accept he was wrong and die or double down on what he believed to fight Dante one last Time to privé hé was right and he is not weak. But the inthinkable for him happen for him, he wake himself in V's body's he is forced to become what he alway hated weak and human, forcing him to reexplore a part of him hé neglected for to long, he rediscovered his favorite Book of poetry and litteraly concquered his nightmare in the form of shaddow griffon and nightmare, he is also force to rely on other for the first Time as he has no hope of ever defeating urizen alone and Come to Dante and Nero to help him, and doing create quite a bound with Nero which kinda force him to do reconsider his World view Indeed by all account Nero is weak and has realy no hope of defeating urizen, and he know it because he was pirely obliterated already once but he keep on fighting anyway, and also he help V when he was at its weakest, forcing to consider that he could rely on other in the end he managed to return to himself, thanks to Dante and Nero, he is Vergil once more but now he has doubts, and we see him do something we've Never see him doing before, reflecting on his situation, was he really wrong? Was Dante realy right? Would his life been different if he was the one save by Eva that day? A rematch with Dante should make things clearer!

I could go deeper on vergil psyche because DMC5 go really deep in vergil World view but i think i've tell the essential here, and i think before continuing it important to explore Dante first. So...

Dante now... Dante is a deeply traumatised person, he Lost all his familly three time once as a kid because of mundus, once because vergil killed his mother or adoption Neil Goldstein, and once because he had to kill Vergil twice. He doesn't realy want to protect the World, but he is the only one that Can Do it and he feel he has a duty over humanity to pursue his father work, because of that he killed what remaind of his familly twice, and has much as it was necessary it left him with a deep scare, due to that he is subject to deep depression, a subject only hinted at in other entries but completly dwelve in 5, but let take toi Manu step and let take a look at 4 before, Dante in 4 find Nero, which is obviously his brother's son and he is the happiest we've ever seen him, Nero is his chance to make things right for once, in the end he give him the Yamato his father's sword and also his brand thé Devil may cry. Come 5 he learn from V that vergil has returned and that he plan to destroy Redgrave city his home city, he Comes to see if it is trully his brother and to stop him, but the unthinkable happen and he looses and now Nero is on its way to kill his own father, knowing how traumatising killing his own familly is, he is now In a run against Nero to take Care of vergil before Nero commit the unrepairable and repeat his own mistake, let's also note that by that point Dante is realy fed up by vergil shenanegans, he would like to make peace with his brother, but he knows his brother obsession put the earth at risk, and by that point he has honnestly no Hope of changing vergil the only end possible for him is with the death of his brother again, he realy don't want to do it, but he sure as hell know Nero must not do it. That's why during the game Dante is so awful to others and particulary to Nero, because he feels vergil is his responsability and no one else.

Fast forward to his fight with Vergil, he try an ultime atempt to end this peacefully by reclaiming the Yamato in a move provocative than trully diplomatic, it is interesting to note that this Time the roles vergil and Dante hold in the final fight of 3 are reversed hinting that maybe this Time it is Dante that push thing to far, he is the one unwilling to desarm the situation. From vergil perspective though he has doubt he is not quite yet ready to stop, he still need to know if hr truly was in the wrong and this fight with Dante should give him the anwser he's looking for.

But Let's take a look at Nero before continuing further. Nero has lived his life as an orphan in fortuna for as far as he Can remember his adoptive familly taking Care of him, and even though he was loves he never quite fit in fortuna his demonic nature alway make him someone different than other and though he Ravel in the powers ut gave him, he comes to hate this aspect of himself, and repress it. His only Friends were creedo and kyrie, and when one day his arm get stuck in dt, he hide it to them, all this build up a frustration in him, a feeling that he is unworthy of love and that he is a monster. that's when he encounter Dante for the first time at first taking him for an ennemy he fight him to protect kyrie and creedo, while fighting a strange hé feel a strange connection to him like they are the sames he and him. After loosing to him hé pursue him and look for a way to become stronger that's when he finds the Yamato offering him the power he need to protect everyone in the end learning the truth he realise Dante is not his ennemy, but he fight him so that he Can keep this new power to protect those he loves, Dante accept but in the end he failled to protect anyone anyway, his brother creedo die and kyrie is still captive, Dante save him and give him one last chance to make things right, and this Time he don't miss it he get ride of sanctus and save kyrie once and for all due to those event Nero has profound respect for Dante he is like a father he Never had to him and he want to be worthy of the trust Dante put in him when giving him his brother's Sword. Fast forward to 5 a dying vergil Come to fortuna and tear his arm appart making him loose the Yamato and indirectly causing thé event of Redgrave city because he was to weak, putting right back at his situation of powerlessness in 4, because of that he absolutly want to make things right, and want to help get rid of urizen, the problem is each Time he try to help Dante reject him more and more calling him deadweight, and to Nero it is inacceptable because it cristalyse his feeling that he has let dosn everybody, in the end he learn that Vergil was actually his father and that Dante was his uncle the orphan that Never has a familly discover he actually has one and that this familly is about to kill each other, and he can't take it, he will not accept it, he know trough his relation to V that Vergil is not beyond redemption, and hé absolutly don't want what happen with creedo to repeat itself it wont let the person he cares about die, not this Time. That's when he manage to Access his dt that give him the strengh to stop both vergil and Dante to kill each other.

We've return to the sibbling fight between Dante and vergil and this Time Nero stop them and put everything in perspective for the 2 brothers, it is not just about them this time, realizing Nero don't want to kill his father and how strong hé has become, Dante decided to give Nero a chance to do things his way, on the other hand Vergil has now an option to end his self destructive path offer by his son and After a fight to test his son he put the blade in its sheat once and for all, all that's left to do is to destroy the qulipoth and seal thé Underworld once again, a son of sparda as to go on the otherside, and while vergil has to do it because he is the only one to be abble to deal portal thanks to the Yamato, this Time Dante do what he wanted to have done all those years ago and go with Vergil to protect his brother, because this Time he know someone is able to replace him, to pursue the legacy of sparda in his place, Nero.

If Reuben Langdon could speak Japanese, why wasn't he cast to do the Japanese voice as well?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 03:37 PM PDT

Is there any possible reason other than him declining the role? I find the Japanese voice acting too deep and in complete contrast to the English one. Reuben would've fit the JP role well imo.

Which Devil May Cry character is the easiest for you to use?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 04:25 PM PDT

For me, probably Vergil. The dude does a shit ton of damage in mere seconds. Combos aren't that hard at all. Not to mention the coolness factor. An absurd amount of summon swords that could rival the entirety of Gunslinger. Trick is basically a simpler version of Trickster. Mods of a playable version of Vergil in DMC5 naturally did so much damage that they had to nerf it themselves.
