Upcoming Major Changes to the Subreddit & New Moderator Applications

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 12:44 PM PST

This is gonna be a long post but we wanna be 100% transparent with the upcoming changes and the reasons behind them.

Hey there, everyone. Been a while since one of these posts, eh?

So were going to be having some major changes to the subreddit on January 20th. Why the 20th? Mainly to give us enough time to prepare and make sure all of this goes smoothly. These changes are due to hearing feedback from various members in the community not just on reddit but on social media like Twitter and discussions that have been going on within the moderation team for some time.

Today we're going to be outlining these changes and why they're going to be happening.

    First off.

    Re-Opening Moderator Applications

We're going to be re-opening our moderator applications as we could use a few more extra hands and some fresh blood. Life gets in the way some times and we could use the back-up. With these major changes coming to the subreddit, we're definitely gonna need some more Smokin' Sick Moderators more than ever.

You can apply at the link here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfUxql7p9pNTaJ_I_wt4XURgganB_5RJ_pREz4dEnwAyW0nMg/viewform?usp=sf_link

Limiting Shitposts & Return of Daily Megathreads

This is probably the biggest change! We've been trying to prevent this for a while with the Weekly Round-Up Thread and pinning various awesome posts as we know you guys love some good ol' memes. We do too! But we think it's time to finally limit Shitposts. It's not that we have anything against them. There's been some great memes for the community. But they've been drowning out a lot of other quality stuff like discussions and combo videos due to such a mass quantity of them that we feel the need to limit them to two days a week.

Here's how its going to work:

On Mondays and Saturdays, you'll be able to freely post your shitposts. These will be dubbed Meme Monday and Shitpost Saturday.

Every other day of the week will have a megathread. We've tried this before but ended up retiring it. But with the limit on shitposts to two days a week, we feel its time to bring it back.

Tuesdays will be Tech Talk Tuesday, focused on well. Tech and everything associated with it. Wanna learn DMC tech? You can go boogie down to the megathread. Inside that megathread will be various links and guides for all DMC games that will help guide you on your journey. Already a tech guy? That's fine! The megathread will be also for sharing findings and discussing possibilities.

Wednesday will be Q&A Wednesday. Serving as our Q&A thread. Same function as the current one. On that day, we'll be deleting posts flaired [Question] and directing them to the megathread on that day since the megathread is up and we some times get a LOT of [Question] flaired posts.

Thursday will be Lore Thursday. A megathread focused on Lore! Discuss all aspects of DMC lore and various theories you might have on the future of the lore.

Friday is something we're going to be working with Millz ( /u/millhouse96 ) on. Millz really helped collect several suggestions for all of these changes to the subreddit too while also providing his own suggestions and will be our adviser with the media side of the subreddit going forward. We're really appreciative of his help and to the help of all members of the community who gave suggestions on these changes.

Every other week well be having a stream over at the reddit_may_cry Twitch channel. Whether it be educational or just a member of the community playing DMC, it's gonna be for you guys.

On the weeks we aren't having streams. We're going to be doing a player spotlight. Just highlighting a member of the community who's doing an awesome job creating content. Doesn't have to be a high level player, just someone doing an SSStylish job producing content for the community. Because of these changes, we'll be retiring Friday's Weekly SSStylish Round-Up Thread.

Sunday will be Free Talk Sunday. You're free to talk about whatever you want. What games you're playing outside of DMC, whats been up lately, etc. This will be consolidated to the megathread though.

We believe all of these changes will help the community at large. Are they perfect? Probably not. Nothing ever really is. But were always looking to improve the subreddit and were committed to seeing these changes through!

    New Rule

One last major change is going to be the introduction of a new rule:

    Rule 10: Dont Be Dismissive:

If you go into threads with an attitude of being purely dismissive of the work or not being open to learning. Your comment will be removed.

    For example:

"I don't really care about any of this, no one should. just play the game lol"

The reason why were introducing this rule is that we've been seeing a lot of people go into threads and be incredibly dismissive. Which isn't cool. Especially with all the time and work put into the various works. It's rude and disrespectful. Even if you don't mean any offense by it.

That's it for the upcoming changes to the subreddit. We hope you'll enjoy these changes. As stated in the start of the post these changes will go into effect on January 20th. So keep that in mind!

Once more I must say, thank you to all members of the community who have provided feedback and suggestions over the last few months. It might've seemed like we were not listening but we were. It's gonna be a period of change but we hope you all stick with us!

TL;DR: Shitposts are being limited, new rule, daily megathreads are back, and moderator applications are back up too.

To appreciate how much people Vergil has murdered? In dmc 3 he bombed a humongous tower through a city unleashing countless demons upon that city turning it into a desolate hellscape (pun intended.) In dmc 5 he ups the ante by unleashing the demon horde on the entire planet if Nico is to be believed. He does this so he can use the blood of all these people to water a plant.

Seriously the death count has got to be in the hundreds of millions

Dude's more prolific then Hitler in the murder department. Well done Vergil, well done.

I finished Dmc: Devil May cry today that was the last one I needed to play before finishing them all it's not as bad as some people make it out to be, and it has one of the better Vergil modes I've played. The Dmc series has become one of my favorite now and I can't wait to see how they'll continue the series after 5.

    Does anybody think that...

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 06:25 PM PST

Trish and Eva (in Dante's flashback dream) should have different hairstyles? I mean yeah, Trish is supposed to physically look just like Eva but that really shouldn't apply to how they do their hair. Honestly, I think Trish should've kept her hairstyle from either DMC 1 or 4 instead of it looking exactly like Eva's in this game. What do you think?
