Posted: 15 Oct 2019 07:15 PM PDT Something I like to do after a series hits a high point or conclusion is reflect on what could be done to improve or fix the series. Whether it's story elements, mechanics, or graphics, I find doing this helps me really appreciate the series more than I already do (in conjunction with what I've learned from the already presented game). Intro aside, what would you like to see corrected in the Devil May Cry series if a remaster was announced tomorrow? (MINOR SPOILERS FOR ALL GAMES BELOW) I would like to see the entire "Dante Saga" reformatted in the most recent graphical quality or better, in chronological order, with all the fixings to "improve" the series. This would also include the anime, which could tie references together that probably seemed a little strange if you didn't watch it. Elements I think would be nice fun to see are: -Improved "impossible" boss fight segues (When you win the fight, but then lose in the cutscene. This typically happens on bosses you have to fight multiple times like Vergil in DMC3) -> I would like to see a trigger for the cutscene when you or the boss hit a certain health percentage that isn't zero. I feel that this would better convey how you didn't fully win or lose... yet. (DMC5 did this well for the first Urizen fight imo) -Correcting/Improving AI intelligence and mechanics -> I enjoyed Vergil's various fights, but the final boss in 3 really showcased what bosses should be capable of and would have liked to see it more. A lot of bosses have multiple phases with strange new abilities and powers when they take enough damage, often getting MUCH stronger. Soulsbourne does this to a near extreme, with Ludwig becoming a completely different boss half way through. DMC5's final boss didn't start using his OP ability til half life. What I'd rather see is that boss who's pulling out all the stops from the start, but just like you building devil trigger, so do they, occasionally using it to get some health back or to put on pressure. Of course this shouldn't be used in all bosses, but more could benefit from it. ->DMC2. Please send help. There's too many videos of people mocking the poor game. -The Anime adaptation/Side Jobs ->It's a fun show that's fairly obscure, but would fit well as fun in between jobs or as a complete game. Could easily make it a DLC feature with the different characters taking new jobs for fun new enemies and different scenarios to try out your stylish moves and keep the shop open. -Graphical Improvement ->Five's graphics on all games? Yes please. -Story ->By putting the games in chronological order, I feel a lot of the reveals and overall story will be fine with minimal adjustments, even making some more impactful (Nelo Angelo). There are still some tweaks that would be needed though (such as the "weird" flashback after beating Angelo the third time), but I don't know all of them off the top of my head. A lot of segues and story jumps can be cleaned up. Flesh out Vergil's visitation to Fortuna better. Include Lucina in more things? Make it more clear that when Sparda sealed the Underworld, he really just closed down major points of entry. Doing this would (imo) streamline why Sparda blood is necessary to reopen different points (and everyone wanting Dante's ass), and why weak demons can get through, but not the Big Bosses until an "event" occurs. So what improvements would you like to see using the power of retrospect? How would you make the games "better" if you could? [link] [comments] |
