    An Observation Regarding Vergil & Fortuna Woman (Spoilers for 4, 5)

    Hello. Thanks for coming. When looking at some plants I had just begun to think about the implications behind Vergil's fatherhood.

    To cut straight to the chase, we know from the bedroom gaze Vergil gives to a random hooded Fortuna lady in DMC4SE's entry that she's the likely candidate for judgement nut recipient. Considering Fortuna's strong connections to real world religions such as (especially during the height of) the Holy Roman Empire. Noting this, it would be safe to assume tenets found in the real world religion such as abstaining from sex until marriage may very well be a thing. Noting this as well, it is implied that the topic of sex prior to marriage was likely a taboo subject.

    Now, just considering the post mission 19 cutscene in 5, it's clear that Vergil is a hefty candidate for shittiest father 20XX. He also wears no wedding band (not that he would, it's a very human act), and does not reference the woman at all a single time again. So, taking all of these factors into account, it might be safe to say that Vergil, having arrived in Fortuna, saw the taboo nature of sex and the possible dismissal of the subject as a fear of its power. And who loves power more than anyone else? Vergil. If it's spoken so highly of in good contexts and spoken about reluctantly in others, it may be a morally grey source of POWER!
