    Vergil/Nero Theory

    I'm probably more invested in the DMC lore than I should be, but I've come to an interesting theory I wanted to run by y'all. This will address the following questions:

    Why is Nero's DT so different from Dante and Vergil's?

    Why does Devil Bringer function the way it does?

    So in DMC5 there's a really interesting piece of lore concerning Fury and Lusachia. Nico posits that Demon evolution is driven by desire; the predecessors of Fury wanted to be fast so they evolved to be as such, Lusachia's wanted to use magic so they evolved a bunch of mouths to cast spells. It's pretty obvious what Vergil's strongest desire is, so as such Nero's devil side is probably much more powerful than that of Vergil or Dante. Of course he's only a quarter devil, but that quarter is more potent I guess. I think this is why his DT looks so different; it's a more powerful evolution of Vergil's.

    I think this also explains why Devil Bringer works the way it does in 4. It has the ability to absorb demonic artefacts and become more powerful. His demon form didn't just evolve to be more powerful, but to be able to make itself more powerful. We know that when Dante and Vergil were younger they channelled the power of devil arms to use DT, but Devil Bringer works differently; it absorbed things like the Evil Legacy and the Aegis Shield to gain new abilities permanently. He can still use Snatch and Hold in 5 after all.

    I think this all makes the ending of 5 that more poetic. Nero's strength is a result of Vergil's power lust and he beats the shit out of him with it. It's like Shakespeare but good. Nero is the power Vergil was looking for all this time.

    Also since Nero has his own power lust thing going on we can assume his kids will boast even more powerful demon forms.

    I managed to beat DMC 5 on Hell and Hell mode, it was a brutal fight with Vergil, but we made it!

    Possibly obvious but very effective way to master royal guard

    Warning: this might be very obvious to other players, I don't know how well-understood this is, but I'm just sharing what helped me immensely.

    So I was fighting against Vergil in DMD when I learnt how perfect royal guarding should actually be done. Now I can easily pretty much block all of his summoned sword shots without fail, with most blocks being perfectly timed (doesn't expend DT, instead gains DT).

    Now the game tells you that you have to tap the style action button to block with perfect timing. Basically what you want to do is very simply hold the button instead for a split second until a safe amount of time after the attack, (even if you get the timing wrong you'll block as long as you have DT, which you would prefer to lose instead of health). If your timing is right, however, which is much more lenient if you hold the button for a short period of time, then you'll gain DT as well as a tonne of style. You'll need that especially in DMD.

    Hopefully that helps anyone, if even one person. It's pretty simple but it worked insanely well for me. Playing as Dante isn't so painful anymore.

    Who Should Inherit V's Playstyle

    While it was a new and interesting take on the formula V's playstyle is pretty underdeveloped and could use a major improvement in sequels like they did Nero. But the issue is now V is gone. So its a matter of who gets the playstyle if it were to return and here are a few candidates.

    1. Patty: Arguably the most popular option as it seems a lot of fans are leaning towards her being the inheritor. It makes a lot of sense. She comes from a family of summoners and alchemists. She has a deep connection to Dante, made a cameo in the games, is old enough to start slaying demons. The only issue is that unless she is an extra or DLC character or a side game I don't see how they can write a plot that justifies her being a core character and taking up the slot as a key playable character. Unless the plot revolves around her summoner lineage or its a key component. Its also a bit weird that an anime original character would become a main character in the actual games. But once you get past those barriers it is doable and being a family of summoners you can pull from anywhere. The sky is the limits with her but being a young woman who has very little to no actual combat training I wouldn't expect a robust melee combat options with her. Maybe more than V but certainly not a lot.
    2. Nico (with Nero as an alternative): Well she is the daughter of Agnus and Agnus in his boss fight did summon other demons to use at his disposal. So its not out of the realm of possibilities that Nico could create some artificial demons like the Basilisks, Cutlass, and Gladius and even more and control them like her papi. Just like Patty and V due to her lack of actual combat experience she would have very little emphasis on melee combat. She could have a gun or some device/Devil Breaker she can use to defend herself if her demons are down. Alternatively she could give Nero a Devil Breaker that allows him to control demons to fight alongside. This is more applying another tool or asset to an existing character than it is creating an entire playstyle based around it. The choice is yours there.
    3. Kyrie: Now this is a wild one lol. Well it can easily be a combination of Nico creating some artificial demons to keep her safe and perhaps the soul of Credo reincarnating as a guardian demon like a Guardian Angelo who watches over her and follows her orders. It would give Kyrie something to do, make a character no one expects to be playable to actually be playable, while still being in character. Probably won't have a huge emphasis on melee combat but who knows perhaps she picks up a really long spear or learn some magic.
    4. Bring back V: Yeah its pretty simple for whatever reason V is back somehow. Whether it be Vergil only temporarily splitting himself or you think of something. V is back. Before V's melee options were very limited because he was weak, fragile, and dying. Now that he has reunited with Urizen who ate the fruit and gained immense power not only would V be fully healthy, he would be powered up and Vergil might give him a decent amount of demonic energy to get the job done more efficiently. So in theory he should be more physically capable than he was in 5 and this shows in World of V where he is radiating power. As for his summons since the trio are dead he might need new ones or they say fuck it and bring them back somehow...don't know how they just do it. Likewise he can use Urizen in place of Nightmare. Although......
    5. Vergil: Just squeeze it in there in Vergil's kit. He already has World of V so instead of a Super Move V becomes a playable character and Urizen comes out and similar to Nightmare he does his own thing but you can ride him and control him like Nightmare. V seperately can use his own version of Summoned Swords, a funky hybrid of a Yamato and cane combos, and teleport. Alternatively Vergil can switch his ranged weapons with other demons to summon.
    6. Angelo (daughter/son of Vergil/Mundus): At one point in the conceptual phase of DMC5's development they considered making V a girl and the daughter of Vergil. They can repurpose that idea in a sequel and its only fitting she inherits V's playstyle because of this. In the concept art, she did seem to have some connection to Mundus so make that at what you will. Can be a girl or a guy. Doesn't matter. Can be a daughter/son of Vergil or Mundus or some weird combination of both. Can be related to neither but still connected to them somehow.

    I wanted a "None. Scrap this playstyle. It Sucks" Option but this stupid website only allows up to 6 options in the polls. LAME!
