In defense of Vergil's Judgement Cut End (and other nukes) in human form

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 06:53 AM PST

I've seen several people talk about the possibility to perform Vergil's nukes in human form and the fact that it entirely consumes Sin DT bar. The same moves only consume one third of the bar if Sin DT is activated. So a lot of people including me have been wondering, if Vergil's nukes cost a lot more in human form, them what's the point of doing so in the first place???

Then I watched this video and realized there is a lot more depth to it that I thought. In fact, performing nukes in human form is a lot more beneficial sometimes! Because it entirely refills normal DT bar (even with 4 or 5 Empusae around). And that's almost enough to refill Sin DT bar once again. If you activate Sin DT first, you may be able to use 3 nukes one after another, but you won't get any DT back.

So in conclusion, (I think) if you're not in a boss fight, and your normal DT bar is empty, using nukes in human form is the better option comparing to when Sin DT is actived.

Edit: added the word "almost" for clarification.

Just finish of my first ever playthough of Devil May Cry HD Collection on PS3 in just 3 day, 1 game each day. Never played the original PS2-versions, so this was my first time playing Devil May Cry games. 3 was best, 1 was great and 2 was good.

DMC5' ranking system is so good it's ruined my ability to enjoy other action games

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 09:37 AM PST

I've played a handful of Platinum games in the past and I'm going through Bayonetta 2 at the moment and being graded for combo, time and damage all separately feels so out of place for a game like this.

DMC5's single style system is all-encompassing so playing fast and going untouched are obviously good and increase your multiplier but you can make up for weaknesses in some areas in others.

If you get hit onto your ass you can make up for the loss by getting back into the fight as fast as possible and build up your style before it drops any lower.

If you get hit at the end of a fight it'll cost you some style but it won't nessacary cost you the fight and it almost certainly won't cost you the entire mission (unless it's mission 10, 12 or 18)

Getting flung to the ground in DMC means being more motivated to go in hot and get that SSS before the last demon's dead.

When I take chip damage in MGR or Bayonetta especially it has the opposite effect, it makes me apathetic not motivated, I don't say "Damn, better get really crazy if I'm gonna do this right," I say "Damn... There goes the entire mission, guess I might as well stop trying"
