Is DMC more popular now ?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 10:47 AM PDT

Recently I've seen in this subreddit many posts of people playing a DMC game for the first time, as well as a couple of YouTubers and Streamers i watch. Did the popularity of DMC 5 bring newcomers to the series ? Do you think that Capcom will make new instalments designed to bring more new followers?

My quick attempt at DMC5 Greyon using Copics. Horns are a little weird but it was still fun to draw.

Does Vergil have distortion with Beowulf in DMC4SE?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 03:05 PM PDT

I can get distortion with Dante and his fist/leg weapon semi-consistently, so I figured I'd try with Vergil and Beowulf. It has a different timing which I've caught, but I can't tell if my timing is off or he just doesn't have it.

I’ll be coming out of lockdown with a newfound love for the game that started it all.

Since I was spending most of my time in lockdown playing on my PS2 after breathing new life into it via Free MCBoot, I decided that amongst the several well-known and not-so-well-known games I was playing out of curiosity, Devil May Cry would be a series that I felt like taking another look at.

As said, this wasn't my first rodeo with the series since I had played DMC5 last year (albeit very badly since Gold Orbs were my best friends on several occasions), but I think that after countless replays of the original Devil May Cry from 2001, I'd say that the more easier basics and fundamentals of the series are now clicking with me.

Admittedly, I will confess that I did give into Easy Automatic Mode on my first playthrough since there were a lot of "casual filters" that kicked my ass, but after getting used to how the combat works (with all the delayed melee combos, Ebony & Ivory juggling and such) and going back to stomp the first Phantom and Nelo Angelo fights on Normal, I wasn't just finding myself entertained with such a brilliant game, I was taking in the pleasure of styling on my enemies as if I WAS Dante.

Perhaps my bias for DMC1 purely stems from it originally being convinced as Resident Evil 4 before becoming its own thing (hence the atmosphere, camera that you can't control which I didn't really mind and constant fetch quests) or maybe because it was one of the easier ones to pick up and play since styles such as Trickster and Swordmaster weren't a thing yet. (I remember feeling pretty overwhelmed when I first got to play as Dante in DMC5 because of this)

But yeah, for those are just wanting the short version: I'd say that thanks to Devil May Cry 1 and my curiosity in lockdown, I've pretty much been turned into a new fan! I wouldn't dare call myself "good" at these games or the action genre itself by a long shot, but I'm glad I came out of this game still wanting to come back for more.

Can someone explain to me what distortion is?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 03:48 PM PDT

I've been seeing some posts about it and heard it mentioned in speedruns, but have no idea what it actually is.

    Average players troubles with DMD

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 08:03 PM PDT

I dont mean just me. I was curious as to how much trouble everyone has with DMD. I can complete missions without dying and get an A rank. But that usually makes me go back and replay a mission at least once.

Devil may cry 4 special edition, best place to practice for all characters?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 12:59 PM PDT

I am brand new to devil may cry 4. What is the best place to practice combos and stuff for all characters? I have the game on ps4 so trainers are out of the question. I would assume bloody palace would also be good but the difficulty is low at the start so it would take a while to get to a place where the enemies have enough health to practice a good combo on.

What are your thoughts of Nero gaining a partner in battle for DMC6?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 02:04 PM PDT

Ever since V with his summoning playstyle, I think Nero could use someone like that in his corner with Nico in his mobile branch.

    What's yours?
