Somebody please tell me how Style is calculated in DMC5 Posted: 11 May 2020 04:55 PM PDT I'm dying trying to get an S-rank on Mission 12 (DMD). I got through mission 11 with an S-rank even after using a revive, but in Yamato I can barely even break 5000 in most fights. I've googled around a bit and this thread shows that Mission 12 and 10, which I also had some trouble with, by default makes all your scores lower than what it would be in other levels. Another thing I've noticed is at the mission end screen there will usually be two or three specific combat scores with a tiny picture of a room from the level; does this mean only some combat encounters in the level count towards the final score? If so that could help me determine whether to save my Royalguard gauge or SDT for those specific encounters. I'm still not good enough to get through a level without taking any hits, especially the fight at the end of the mission, so no way I'll get the S-rank that way lol, even though I know I'll have top once I get to HAH. Posted: 11 May 2020 02:13 AM PDT To remind everyone, V was created when Vergil used the Yamato's powers of separation on himself. Devil Sword Dante and thus Sin Devil Trigger was created when Dante used the Rebellion on himself and absorbed the Sparda. Now then, when Dante uses the SDT his sword impales him and he transforms into his Majin form. So with all that in mind if Capcom wanted to make an SDT Vergil in the same vain as SDT Dante gameplay-wise all we would need is the exact same animation, the Yamato impaling Vergil, but it separates V from Urizen. Urizen then takes over the role of Nightmare and both are now granted some new abilities. With Vergil accepting his humanity and V no longer bearing the shell of a crippled form, he can have some more advanced melee combat and be granted the Yamato instead of his cane. He'll still have all the options of the original but be granted trick and since this is the SDT, the normal DT button becomes the new trick button. I'm not terribly experienced with all of Nightmare's capabilities so I'm unsure if any can be switched to upgraded versions to compliment Urizen's attacks but I would love to hear any ideas. With this kind of addition to the series we can still keep V and his gameplay mildly intact without needing to force Vergil to separate again a la story convenience. This also can bring something new enough to bring Vergil's gameplay somewhat close to Dante's complexities. Because, my god, Dante's gameplay is beyond complex. Infinite skill ceiling with DSD and Quadruple S. Plus it would be such a waste to just wipe Urizen and V from existence after making those models look so fucking amazing. [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 11 May 2020 10:46 AM PDT This is a copy paste of my reply on another thread. I've had this idea since the game came out, but never bothered to write it out in detail and share it here. My idea is this: Think about how Devil May Cry 5 expanded on Dante and Nero's movesets, and how it pushed their abilities to new limits compared to Devil May Cry 4. I'm only talking gameplay wise. This has nothing to do with story or character progresshion. Just having Vergil be like he was in 4, and the way he is in the Vergil mod would not be enough. It would actually be very underwhelming. Dante and Nero both got some MAJOR new things in their repertoare gameplay wise. Vergil needs something aswell in order to not feel like a lackluster addition. Not only that, giving him Beowulf and Force endge would not be enough, nor would it make any sense. In Devil May Cry 4 they could give Vergil Beowulf and Force edge, because it was clear that he is not actually a part of the game, hes just there as fanservice from Devil May Cry 3, so him having those weapons is just part of hes homage. However Vergil IS in Devil May Cry 5, so having hes Devil May Cry 3 version would not make sense, plus it would be lackluster. Vergil needs to be new compared to hes DMC 3 and 4 version. V is gone. That's just the sad reality. However he doesn't have to be gone in terms of hes gameplay. When you play as V, your body just runs around doing mostly nothing, while your familiars are fighting for you. In terms of pure gameplay design, that is waisted. Having an entire body, without it actually doing anything feels waisted. So what if you had a body that could fight just fine while also having familiars that can fight aswell? A controller has 8 active buttons + the d-pad directions. In DMC5 that is:
and atleast 2 or more extra buttons for character specific stuff like breakage or weapon swapping or exceeding, etc. Vergil has no styles, no exceed, no breakage, no weapon swapping(since in 5 hes only using yamato) or anything. Vergil has a bunch of extra free real estate in terms of controlls that NEEDS to be filled with something in order to not feel lackluster compared to other characters. I don't think giving Vergil weapon swapping or style swapping is a good idea. That's just copy pasting Dante's design idea. However, you can just put V-s gameplay onto Vergil. Not only does it make sense, it also almost perfectly fill the real estate that Vergil is missing. New Vergil could just be an evolution of old Vergil + V. Just like the personal character development he goes through in the game. We even see Vergil summon a version of himself in the bossfight. Vergil could become a katana using summoner type. THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES!!! Imagine an updated doppelganger system combined with V-s familiars and you have ENDLESS POTENTIAL!!! Vergil's design would be updated to be on par with new Dante and new Nero. Imagine that while playing as Vergil, you can also use Shadow, Griffon, Nightmare and a doppelganger of yourself like in the last bossfight. In a way it's like Dante's new Devil Sword Dante Swordmaster style, where you can summon moves regardless of your own animations whenever you want. THE POSSIBILITIES WOULD BE ENDLESS! I love this idea because not only would it make a ton of sense both in terms of story and mechanics, it would also allow for endless combo potential and we would get mindblowing insane 9000 IQ Vergil combo videos.
