    Weekly SSStylish Round-Up Thread! [12-20-19]

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 02:41 PM PST

Hello, hello. It is I, your host, TheTenthDocter finally back. I had a lot of personal family matters to deal with which pulled me away from doing this for a while (and is why this is later than usual.) I hope everyone has a happy holidays! Anyway, I'm back and ready to jump right into some SSStylish posts.

    First up we have:

My old SSSexy drawing of Dante which I found in my note. Can't stop laughing by /u/LessTergy

This amazingly funny post by LessTergy has an absolutely wonderful old drawing of Dante. Hilarious work, LessTergy!

    Second up we have:

Sketch of Kid Vergil. [OC] by /u/TheWorldUnderHell

I gotta say, this post got me thinking. A neat sketch of kid Vergil. I can't help but wonder what Dante and Vergil were like when they were wee lil' lads and this post makes me think about it. Excellent drawing, TheWorldUnderHell!

    Third up we have:

Devil May Cry 5 Combo MAD - 'Momentum' by /u/KCtheDeadweight

A pretty sick Combo MAD by KCtheDeadweight and from what I can tell, their first one. Awesome work and I hope to see more from you in the future!

    Fourth up we have:

    Smokin' sexy style!! by /u/FinalPhantom45

Heh. Now this tattoo is SSStylish. Anyone who gets DMC ink is automatically rad in my book so you're going in the "rad people" list, FinalPhantom45!

    And last up we have:

    DMC Spin-offs by /u/henshinslayer

A pretty interesting discussion thread talking about potential DMC spin-offs and if they could happen. Personally, I'll always wish for a Sparda spin-off! The ideas henshinslayer talks about in this thread are rather neat. So go give it a read!

That's it for this week's Weekly Round-Up thread. Thank you for reading! As a reminder: the Pride Tournament will be happening tomorrow (12/21) at 1 PM ET over @ http://twitch.tv/cuhrayzeee so definitely go over there and give them a watch!

Here's all the threads we featured this week:

I'm proud of Devil May Cry 5

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 01:21 PM PST

Earlier in the decade, I got a 360 for Christmas around 2011. A couple months later I ended up getting Devil May Cry 4 from my dad. I've never heard of the DMC series before that, and after playing it for a bit the night that I got it, I was hooked. While a lot of people trash on DMC4, I have to thank it as the one that got me into the series. I didn't actually finish DMC4 until like a few years later after I ended up getting the HD collection and getting another copy of 4 since I lost my original copy, and I have to say, after playing all of them, the Devil May Cry series up there in my top five favorite video game series of all time. While I never played games like them before or even thought I would end up liking such a genre, I actually ended up becoming a devoted fan.

While some may say the plots of DMC are cheesey, they definitely have a lot of heart behind them. I love the characters of the Devil May Cry series. They feel so human to me, despite some of them being half-demon or full-on demon. The gameplay is freakin' awesome too, and probably the most fun I will ever have in video games ever. I don't think any other game has given me such a rush that feels good as Devil May Cry does. After Devil May Cry 4 SE and Resident Evil 7 were released, a lot of people were wondering what was next for Capcom. I spent the last three or four years scouting the internet for any news of a sequel to DMC4.

There were some rumors here and there, but it didn't seem like it was going to happen... until June of 2018 when they showed this mysterious trailer at E3. When they showed Urizen, I thought ah, damn it, looks like it's gonna be a new IP since it didn't look like Devil May Cry to me.... and then bam. You see Capcom's name, and a van is shown driving down the street. You see what looks like a white-haired character, and the camera pans over to the outside of the van to a neon sign that says fucking DEVIL MAY CRY. Then Nero revved the Red Queen and I was just sitting there like.... 0_0. Holy shit, it's actually real. Devil May Cry 5 is ACTUALLY HAPPENING. Another shock was seeing Nero getting his devil bringer ripped off by a mysterious hooded figure. I knew right then and there, that that was Vergil. No doubt about it. Then at the end of the trailer they showed us Dante riding on the motorcycle, and man, I was in shock. Goosebumps covered my skin. Couldn't even cheer because I was so happy to see that it was finally happening.

March 8th was the release date. Mannnnn it was so long and I couldn't wait. When it finally did arrive though, it completely knocked it out of the park. I started it as soon as midnight struck. The intro with Nero shooting the demons out of the van was awesome! Of course, I had school the next morning so I stopped around the second or third mission. The next night, however, was thankfully a Friday night and I played it all the way through. I couldn't stop playing because it felt so good to play and man, that rush I mentioned earlier? Oh yeah, 5 was there to give me it again. The battles with Urizen were freakin' epic, especially when Dante got his Sin DT. I was glad they wrapped up some plot stuff that was unresolved from 4. But the best thing about this game, I think? Holyyyyyy shit those last two missions. Especially when you fight Vergil as Dante for the first time. Felt like a trip down nostalgia lane for most fans, I bet.

Then the last mission shows Nero going up there to stop Dante and Vergil from killing each other. As he calls Kyrie he expresses how the only family he really had was Kyrie and Credo, and after learning Dante and Vergil is his family, he realizes what he must do. Goddamn, that scene with Nero slowly walking up the path and talking about how he regrets not having the strength to protect Credo with Legacy playing in the background, and then you see that his fucking arm grows back I mean, that was some pretty powerful stuff. Then we see Nero stop Dante and Vergil in his now unlocked Devil Trigger. Wow. He found his strength!

Then Nero proceeds to give Vergil an ass-kicking. The music playing during this fight felt like we were playing as the boss this time, and man was I pumped! Silver Bullet is just as good as Devil Trigger IMO. I feel like this game actually had a happy ending for once, with no one losing anyone at all throughout the story. I feel like that's what makes Nero special. He was able to save everyone in the end. However, this is different for Dante and Vergil. Dante felt remorse for not being able to save his brother, and Vergil felt powerless because he lost his mother. I think somewhere it was once said that Devil May Cry is about love, and Devil May Cry 5 is a perfect example of it, I think.

A lot of people will say this is nothing more than weeb trash. Fine, let them think that. The characters in this game are deep man. More than we actually think. Devil May Cry 5 met all my expectations, and seeing Itsuno win Best Action Game was satisfying because the award is much deserved. It's definitely my personal GOTY as well. I can't wait to see what awaits us in the next one... because, believe me, they're not stopping it yet!

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 03:48 PM PST

Seriously, is THIS even necessary? Every day or so there is a vid on yt with some Ninja Theory kissass, who just adores to bash DMCV and everything it stands for. If you're a member of this subreddit and you happen to post these kinds of videos, STOP! For the love of everything, just take a fucking brake....plus this guy didn't even had any positive arguments on his part...so there's that.

Am i the only one excited for Pinnacle of Combat?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 06:36 AM PST

Seriously seems like there isn't much hype around this. Sure, it's being developed in China and they aren't the greatest government i the world, but a Devil May Cry game on mobile is ground breaking in my opinion and i'm glad somebody is doing it.

I'm just hoping there's enough support for it for Capcom to bring it out west and localize it. I'd hate to see a good game be exclusive to China.

How Nero's arsenal can be upgraded next game?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 04:13 PM PST

With Nero looking after things on the human side, he'll need some total upgrading if he's gonna slowly keep up with his uncle & father at their levels.

He'll need more Devil Breakers, upgrade even his sword & gun.

    • Devil Breakers: Since he has his Bringer back, he could still use those Breakers as gauntlets. Plus maybe they can help work with his Devil Trigger in a Megaman/X style. Just like how Dante's DMC3 DT worked.
      • As for Breakers: ice-based Breaker, shield Breaker, hammer Breaker, beast claw-based Breaker
    • Red Queen: One of these days, Red Queen will have to end up being broken and he'll need a new weapon to replace or upgrade with.
    • Blue Rose: Whether upgrade or not, it'll still be handy for him. Especially for some new Breakers to help.
