VERGIL IS OP IN DMC 4!

    Posted: 23 Dec 2019 04:30 PM PST

I just tried out Vergil in bloody palace for my first try and I GOT ALL THE WAY TO STAGE 98! This is insane. I know that it isn't me I'm not that good at the game. So I'm assuming Vergil is just overpowered beyond any comparison.

    Dante’s Second Identity

    Posted: 23 Dec 2019 01:29 PM PST

    Dante's second identity

On Christmas Dante takes the Geyron's carriage from DMC3 and uses some magical horses to use to fly. And then he uses his trickster ability to go down chimneys and leave gifts to kid .

Dante do this because once he was a child and suffered a lot because he became orphan so young , so now he dresses up and gives presents to orphan kids as well.

He uses his characteristic red coat and everything but he also uses a red hat , a fake beard and lenses so demons don't recognize and attack him while delivering presents.

And that's how Santa Claus legend came to life !!

    The Legendary Zombie Hunter

I think DMC1 is still the best in the series, though I haven't played DMC5 yet.

    Posted: 23 Dec 2019 01:27 PM PST

I haven't played in several years, I have a major thing about continuity and can't bring myself to play a sequel game without playing in story order. So when I PS2 broke however many years ago, it also meant no more DMC4 unless I could play leading up to it again. But I am treating myself to a self-bought Christmas and am buying DMC HD Collection along with DMC4:SE and DMC5, and am playing them in story order. I can't describe how much I am looking forward to it, I've missed this series really bad.

But I've always thought DMC1 was the best. Doesn't have the best gameplay by a long shot, it's pretty simple compared to later games. But it isn't the gameplay that makes me say it. It's the ATMOSPHERE. DMC1 is the one that held strongest to its old Resident Evil/Biohazard roots, and you can tell. The horror aspects are through the roof. It's got the only enemies in the series I can legit call creepy or scary, the game is visually darker than the other games, its gothic feel is very pronounced. And that end-game is the best end-game of the series. When it hits sunset, and you go back into the castle again after killing Griffon... Holy shit. The music is freaking terrifying, you can only see about 5 feet in any direction because it's pitch black, the castle's layout has completely deformed. It is the closest to what Hell bleeding into the real world would probably be like, EVERYTHING is just so freaking wrong and dark at that point. Then you get to Hell, it's a freaking organic castle, like you're in a living creature. And the enemies are the weirdest and freakiest in the series, even the basic puppet's jerky movements were enough to instill at least a little unease in the player just from watching them.

The other DMCs kinda just became nothing more than action games, foregoing its horror game atmosphere roots (it obviously wasn't a horror game, Dante is too strong and badass and confident for even DMC1 to ever feel actually horrifying, but the atmosphere FELT like one). And that has become more clear with each game, DMC2 was less horror game feeling than DMC1, DMC3 less than 2, 4 less than 3. I am truly hoping DMC5 ramps the scary stuff back up since it involves real world locations, but I doubt it will. It's why I doubt DMC5 will unseat DMC1 as my favorite, it too is likely just an action game with no care for making demons and Hell legitimately creepy and dark. Not to say just being an action game is BAD, I LOVE the whole series (well, DMC2 is just 'eh'). But I think DMC was at its best when it dialed up the atmosphere to 20 and just went all in on making demons and Hell freaky like they should be. It made DMC feel unique even among its own game genre, and no game or even DMC game since has quite nailed that feeling ever again.

Also? Not just the end-game, but the Mundus stuff is still the most epic and cool final boss sequence in the series so far. I'll see if DMC5 tops THAT, which will be hard to. Flying through space as a super demon, shooting giant fireballs and dodging meteors while turning into a big freaking fire dragon and ramming into the big bad as a dragon, is BIT hard to top.
