I know that Fortuna was characterized by being such an isolated town that V had to resort to a helicopter but to get to Nero. But are you telling me that Fortuna was an island all this time?

So a friend of mine said I was crazy for swapping my firearm and melee weapon switch buttons. I don't see the issue, seeing as i play fps games and shoot is universally the right trigger....you see where I'm going with this. I only do this for nero and dante tho. I'm wondering if anyone else does this

    How I play Dante

    Posted: 15 Dec 2021 06:17 AM PST

So I dunno why I'm doing this but usually when I go on here people play Dante a lot and some people want to know how to play him so I'll be talking about how I play Dante I'll talk about 4 things style switching, combos, royal guarding and also which devil arms order and guns I use, and if you guys want I'll talk about how I use each of the characters so I'll begin. If you want to see my videos look on my profile

    (Devil Arms Order)

    1. DSD, K-Cerberus, Balrog, Cavalier
    2. Rebellion/Sparda, K-Cerberus, Balrog, Cavalier, and DSD
    3. No weapons at all For guns I do
    4. Ebony and Ivory, Coyote-A, D-Kalina Ann, Dr. Faust
    5. Ebony and Ivory, D-Kalina Ann, Dr. Faust
    6. No weapons at all So I use 1/1 alot because it's easy to use these weapons especially when you play with them a lot

So I'll say this playing Dante yeah he has a lot of weapons but what I first did was start with two devil arms and two guns after I beat the game and I tried combos then later I tried all four devil arms and guns also "I switched my button layout so square is melee and triangle is shoot" button switching is helpful when playing video games so it makes it easier for us so try with what helps you with that being said on to the next one

    (Style Switching)

Usually I go slow to fast to slow when I use style switching unlike every YouTuber you see on YouTube they all play fast and do fast combos even faster style switching but I can't do that though so what I do is "go with the flow" when I mean by that I mean start with a style and when you feel like you can do better in other words go faster than you can as long as you don't push yourself you'll be fine again this is just how I play with Dante

    (Combos)

So like I said earlier if you want you can watch my videos on my profile to get a idea of how I play and what I'm trying to explain to you guy's but the way I do combos include a lot of switching weapons especially in air now combos are made for everyone but if you want something specific combining combos try the void and get a idea of what you want to do that's pretty much what I had for combos but with jump canceling when you jump cancel like with K-Cerberus when you do revolver in the air as soon as you do it kick jump and do it again but quickly or when you do feather combo with Balrog jump kick on the enemy and then quickly do feather combo again but do feather combo and kick jump as fast as possible

    (Royal Guard)

Royal Guard is really fun especially when you hear Dante yell it out so for the way I royal Guard is really with two ways 1. Jump guarding: when you are about to get attacked by a enemy right when they are about to hit you jump and then hit royal guard but I'd time it so when they're like 2 steps from you and they swing at you jump and hit it now if it didn't work for you the second way I do it is 2. Walk and Guard: Really it's just walking a bit to my enemy and when they swing quickly press royal guard however if you are nervous about getting hit I don't recommend it for you instead I recommend the the first one

And that's all folk's this is how I pretty much play Dante if you'd like I can do other characters like Nero, or V even Vergil but that's all I have for you all and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask :1

Unpopular opinion: I hope we never get to play as Sparda nothing they can show us will measure up to what we can imagine. Also a game should be difficult and Sparda is said to be so OP that when he walks into the room demons just drop dead so yeah can’t really make a game around that

Thoughts on my first time playing DMC 1: Update #3

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 11:24 PM PST

Back again with another update post. I'm officially past the halfway point of DMC 1 now, hooray! If you'd like to read the previous post of this type, here it is. This post will cover my experience with Missions 11-15.

    • Mission 11 caused me a bit of confusion. The Death Scythe in the starting area actually almost killed me, and I contemplated trying a Holy Water to just get rid of it quickly, but eventually I was able to beat it without resorting to that. I did manage to get the Orbs around the area by jumping on the moving platform over to the glass on the sides after beating it, glad I didn't miss those at least. But then I didn't know what to do with the Chalice when I went to the next area. I thought I could just take it by maybe offering some water or something, but sadly there was no water item to collect (damn you, mission description, for being so vague). So it was wandering time once again. I knew there was that green, glowing hole that I couldn't access from the glass on the right in the first area, but I didn't know how to get to it. Then I finally doubled back and read the inscription on the stone near the circular hole that gave me the hint I needed to break through the cracked wall in the hole to get what I needed for the Chalice. This is why reading is important I guess. XD I did save up enough Red Orbs to get Inferno on Ifrit though, and boy was it worth it. With that and Grenadegun spam, it only took three tries to beat Nelo Angelo 2.

    • Missions 12 and 13 were...my least favorite in the whole game so far, especially 13. Seriously, those underwater sections can go eat a dick. For all of my struggles with confusing maps and unclear mission instructions, those didn't hold a candle to how painful it was to play those sections. I felt like the controls were actively fighting me, and the fact that I could only use the Needlegun to attack underwater was bullshit. At least Griffon 2 in Mission 12 only took two tries to beat, basically just learning to avoid his homing attack and spamming Grenadegun/Inferno (these are my best friends now). Mission 13, on the other hand...oh god, I couldn't find a single redeeming quality about it. Forced to use the awful underwater controls through basically the whole thing, having to fight multiple enemies with only the Needlegun, and being confused about where I had to go. And as if that wasn't bad enough, even the music added to my suffering. I seriously don't know why the music had to be that stressful to listen to; there wasn't even a time limit (which kinda doesn't make sense btw, since Dante lost health when he was underwater in Mission 3), so why the fuck did the music have to make it seem like there was? Just thinking about it is enough to trigger Vietnam flashbacks. I am absolutely dreading returning to that mission in the future.

    • Mission 14 brought back the spike obstacles that caused me a lot of pain in my first playthrough of DMC 5 Mission 15, but I guess they weren't as bad as they were in 5. I got spiked a few times, but after I figured out the timing and how to run past them through the safe zones, I was more or less okay. My dumb ass did keep running along the moving floor dodging spikes for a long time at first though, wondering if I was getting any closer to where I needed to go, until I noticed an open doorway right beside me...classic. On the plus side, I think I managed to find a secret Red Orb stash, and the rest of the mission was quite easy.

    • Mission 15 cleared up some stuff regarding the area leading to the coliseum from a previous mission; I thought I'd missed some things by not investigating them further back then, but I guess I wasn't meant to get through those sealed-off doors until this mission. Still, I didn't really bother exploring the other passageways since I didn't want to get lost or waste time on the way to the coliseum, so I just took the most direct path by using the Emblem Shield on the blue door to retrieve the Pair of Lances to unlock the main door. This path brought more spikes, as well as jumping challenges. I lost track of how many times I fell into the poisoned area before I figured out the right angle to jump at to get to the lances. I disliked having to go through that twice since Griffon 3 kicked my ass the first time, but after a close fight the second time around where I focused on dodging when I had to and spamming Grenadegun and Inferno when he landed, I prevailed. It was kinda weird though, I didn't think I'd beaten him yet cuz he still had a bit of HP left in his second phase, but then it turned out I had...was that supposed to happen? Anyway, I got a bit nervous when he asked Mundus to grant him the power to finish Dante in the post-fight cutscene, thinking he was about to launch some final suicide attack which I undoubtedly wouldn't survive with my low HP, but it appeared that Mundus had other plans...that was some cold shit.

    • On the whole, it seems like the bosses aren't as hard now as they were before. Compared to Phantom 1 and Shadow, Griffon and Nelo were a breeze. Maybe it's cuz I have the Grenadegun and Inferno now, or cuz the battle arenas were more favorable, or cuz I've gotten a little better at the game? In any case, it's nice not to have to restart missions more than once or twice after dying in a boss fight. Though who knows how long this will last...

    • Again, I didn't find any Secret Missions. Exploring is too hard without a guide, oof.

I hope the rest of the game doesn't cause me too much frustration and that there are fun boss fights to come. And most of all, I hope there are no more underwater sections, please, for the love of god. As always, any tips you guys can offer me would be highly appreciated. Thanks for reading! :)
