Posted: 04 May 2021 12:34 AM PDT Let's start with the basics and go over all the moves they have. They can do some melee slashes. Sometimes they will do two slashes instead of one. They can roar and trap you on some strings and attack you immediately after. They can also spin around like a fuckin' helicopter. They can also do a ranged attack depending on what weapon they carry. Finally, and most dangerously, they can jump on you and repeatedly slash you, which can actually trigger a fatality animation if you die from it. First of all, there are three different weapons that a Marionette could possibly be equipped with: throwing knives, curved blades, and a shotgun. Both Marionettes equipped with throwing knives and those equipped with curved blades have the exact same melee attack properties. The swings are slow when not in Devil Trigger, but are much faster when in Devil Trigger (just as fast as a Bloody Mari's regular speed with or without Devil Trigger). Also they both jump on you without a warning and slash the crap out of you if you stand close to them for long enough. When they do this, either wiggle your control stick wildly or activate DT to escape quickly. You still do take at least one hit so make sure you don't let them do this shit. When you are in DT, however, you are completely immune to this attack. Now, Marionettes equipped with a shotgun are much easier to deal with at melee range. They only have one thing they can do at close range and that is try to slap you REALLY slowly. This attack doesn't speed up in DT. Also this move is incredibly easy to dodge. Just as long as you're not on the ground you pretty much won't get hit. Now at range is when you can really notice the difference between all three weapon varieties. The Marionettes equipped with throwing knives will spin their weapons around for a good amount of time and the speed is not too fast, but it has a very long range no matter how far you are and it has very good vertical tracking, meaning you will most likely be hit if you jump towards or away from them, so your only options are to dodge sideways or to use invincibility frames with strict timing. However, for some reason, if you are close to them when they do this attack, their attack always misses even if you don't move. The Marionettes equipped with curved blades will spin their weapons for the shortest amount of time before they throw, so you have very little warning. This makes this attack extremely dangerous if you are close to them when they do this attack as you have little to no time to react. However, once they throw, the blades travel very slowly and their tracking is not very good. You can pretty much dodge in any direction besides towards them, and you can even just run sideways and the blades will not hit you. It also has little range as it tends to curve away after traveling a certain distance, making this the safest ranged attack when very far away. The Marionettes equipped with a shotgun will spin their weapon for the longest amount of time, giving you the most amount of time to think. However, once they start attacking, their shotgun blast is instant regardless of how far away you are from them. If you try to dodge at the wrong time, it is very easy to be hit by their shot. However, they have zero vertical tracking, so as long as you jump very early or you are high enough in the air before they shoot, you are safe from the attack. If you find it pretty hard to dodge early enough, you can also use the invincibility frames to dodge with stricter timing. For some reason, if you get close to them while they are spinning their shotgun around and getting ready to shoot, they will suddenly change their mind and go back to trying to slap you. Now what else is there to talk about? Oh trust me, there's a lot. There are a total of 5 different types of Marionettes and they all behave differently. Each type is represented by its own colour so I will just label them with the colour names. Light Blue, Light Green, Indigo, Dark Green, and Dark Blue. Let's start with Light Blue. A Light Blue Marionette is the weakest Marionette with no special behaviours (maybe that's why these guys always have nothing on their heads?). If you are at close range, it can either do the melee slashes or jump on you without a warning. If you are at range, it cannot do any ranged attack on you at all. Being far away from them makes you safe completely. Light Green. These guys are also the safest at range because, just like with the Light Blue Marionettes, they never do a ranged attack unless they carry a shotgun. Also, a Light Green Marionette is the only colour that does the roaring attack and traps you on strings. Just don't be on the ground and you will not get trapped. You don't take any damage despite the knockback animation. If you do get trapped, wiggle your control stick like hell to hope you break off before it attacks you, or simply activate DT, which works much faster. If you are already in DT, you are completely immune to this attack. Other than that, its behaviours are normal. If you are at melee range, it will either do the melee slashes or jump on you without a warning. Indigo. An Indigo Marionette has the most standard behaviour. Aside from parrying and counterattacking, its behaviours are exactly the same as those of a Bloody Mari. If you are at melee range, it will either do the melee slashes or jump on you without a warning. If you are at range, it will very occasionally do the ranged attack depending on the weapon it carries. It will also do the spinning attack whenever it is at low health. It spins more slowly than a Bloody Mari spin. An Indigo Marionette also has a lot more health than all the other Marionettes, but still less than a Bloody Mari. Dark Green. This is the only colour that can actually glide towards you like a Bloody Mari does. A Dark Green Marionette will also do the spinning attack quite often. Unlike the Indigo Marionettes, they can do this attack at any health level. Other than that, its melee attacks are regular. It will either do the melee slashes or jump on you without a warning. Finally, Dark Blue. This colour is the easiest to deal with at melee range because this is the only colour that never jumps on you without a warning no matter how long you stay right in front of it. Especially when Marionettes DT, a Dark Blue Marionette is the safest to melee because you have no risks of surprise attacks. However, this cunt is MEGA aggressive at long range, as it just won't fuckin' stop with its ranged attacks. It is specifically designed to fight at long range as it tends to glide away from you if you get fairly close to it. If you are overwhelmed by them in large numbers and they are all far away from you, you're kinda fucked. Now, when any Marionette DTs, they no longer flinch from literally any of your attacks if you are not DTed yourself. This makes it impossible to fight them at melee range if you do not have DT yourself, which is why the only way you beat Mission 1 on DMD with a fresh character is spam the guns from a distance in order to prevent the risk of getting jumped on with no warning once they all DT. If you only have one Marionette left, however, there is a bit of a workaround. Whenever you get behind them, they will always do that turn around animation. After that animation, they always MUST walk two steps before they can do anything else. This gives you enough time to get a few slashes in. If you repeat this, it's possible to melee a DTed Marionette even if they are not Dark Blue. If you do have DT, they will flinch from most of your attacks. However, their health boost is around 5 times or even a little more so even with DT they still take forever to die. Now, in DT, even a Marionette develops the ability to block your DT attacks and attack you afterwards like a Bloody Mari does (unless they carry a shotgun). Their slash speed after their parry is insanely fast, so make sure you're very careful when you're meleeing a crowd of DTed Marionettes. Also their damage boost is very high as well. If you have not upgraded your health, one hit will empty your health and another will finish you off. Once the Marionettes DT, you cannot fuck around with them anymore. Oh, and one last thing. No matter how low you get a Marionette's health to, its health will reset and refill completely when it DTs, meaning if you know you won't be able to kill a Marionette before it DTs, there's no real point in trying to do any damage to it since it'll recover all of it anyway. However, all types of Marionettes will have the same amount of health now so even an Indigo Marionette will not have any more health than the other colours, once they all DT. [link] [comments]
Devil may cry 5 freezes when my controller disconnects -PC Posted: 04 May 2021 06:15 PM PDT For some reason every time when my controller disconnects on pc the game just completely freezes. Since my wire is a bit broken if I set my controller down a certain way it disconnects and that cause dmc to just freeze. The audio keeps playing if it's in a cutscene but after it just stays frozen. I have to alt+tab out and stop running the game. It's really annoying can anyone help? [link] [comments]
