I'm sure there is a manga for it, but is there more about the journeys these two made to become the cool, badasses they give the impression of? | Posted: 13 May 2021 05:52 PM PDT The Devil May Cry 1 references in Viewtiful Joe sound plausible but there is something weird about them, maybe it's because they were not mentioned DMC1, but it looks like Kamiya had some lore that he wasn't able to include in the game and could have been part of the prequel or sequel that he had ideas about. Based on some of the things that Mundus said in Viewtiful Joe, he said that Eva's soul was inside the Amulet. (by the way in the Japanese version, in this game, not DMC1, it is called "magic stone" é”石 not amulet アミュレット which is actually appropriate because that's what it is.) There is also a mention that the "magic stone" revived child Dante, which suggests to me that maybe when the demons attacked him when he was young, the amulet protected him, but, at the time he only had half of the amulet and Vergil had the other. I don't know if it was possible, but if the twins and Eva were attacked on the same day and she died, was her soul transferred in the halves of the amulets? That's why I consider that thing said in Viewtiful Joe to be weird. Also, let's say that this was possible, I believe Mundus realized that the amulet had a power to it when he took Vergil. In Kamiya's DMC it's implied that Vergil had been killed as a child and that apparently he wasn't at home when the demons attacked, the DMC1 novel has Dante recalling how he saw his mother getting killed and believed the same happened to Vergil. Mundus sent minions after Eva and the twins, Dante managed to escape and based on that line from Viewtiful Joe, it could be that he was badly injured and the demons thought he was dead, but, after they were gone, Dante was resurrected. This is just a theory. If the twins were protected even by 1 half of the Perfect Amulet and Mundus realized this, it must have been when he got hold of Vergil. He wanted them dead, but if one of Sparda's sons managed to survive that day, he changed his plans and took the opportunity to make him his servant, known as Gilver (I haven't read the whole novel, but Kamiya did mention that apparently Gilver was Vergil, this is now retconned and it's considered that Mundus sent a prototype Angelo after Tony, with no mention that it looked like a Vergil clone) and later making him Nelo Angelo.
