Mundus Is The True Villain Of DMC

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 04:28 PM PDT

I've just now realized this after all these years, Mundus is literally the beginning and the end of Devil May Cry, the REAL alpha and the omega. He's the catalyst of every event that's happened up until now, and the reason Dante is a devil hunter in the first place.

DMC3 - Dante Becomes a devil hunter after the death of his mother and father by the hands of Mundus. But before this, Dante and Vergil spent years alone and their family destroyed. Dante was a regular mercenary and Vergil spent his time trying to seek more power so he can never lose anything again. You can even make the argument that Vergil's and Dante's sibling rivalry was due to Mundus' destruction of their family, both dealt with their traumas differently leading them to clash. Mundus indirectly sabotaged the sons of sparda for a short period of time.

DMC1/Anime - Dante is a devil hunter actively seeking revenge against Mundus by killing and slaughtering any demons the underworld throws at him. By the end of the game he eventually DOES get his vengeance, but Dante is left feeling empty after the revelation that Nelo Angelo was a corrupted Vergil. Now if we wanna get theoretical here, we can say Dante killing Vergil was the reason for Dante being depressed in both the anime and DMC2. So even though Mundus was "defeated" he got the last laugh in the end.

DMC2 - Argosax was the main antagonist of DMC2, but like most things in DMC2, he doesn't have much of a background and just kinda shows up without any explanation. Even then he's constantly compared to Mundus in terms of power in the DMC2 novel. Also from my understanding, Dante fights Mundus again in the novel where Dante is also forced to kill a demon that resembles Trish. (so like killing his best friend and mother all in one)

DMC4 - Sanctus was a lower level villain, he was like a side boss that Dante wanted Nero to beat so he can be the hero of his city. He's pretty much a villain made for Nero's introduction/character so he can establish himself in the franchise.

DMC5 - Vergil being the antagonist all falls back to Mundus and his actions in the first place. If Mundus never singlehandedly destroyed Dante's family, their sibling rivalry would never be a thing and both Dante and Vergil would be living regular human lives right now. All those lives lost by the Qliphoth wouldn't exist and the destruction of the city wouldn't either.

Essentially, my point is that Mundus is the one true villain of the series so far. He's the only one that's done anything majorly significant that affects the characters and the world in some way. The rest of the villains seem more like filler that Dante/Nero just run over without any lingering consequences or loss. Without Mundus we wouldn't have Devil May cry.

The height difference between vergil and wolverine is hilarious

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 12:20 PM PDT

For context in UMvC3 the opening cinematic has vergil and wolverine clashing together and then I remembered wolverine is 5'3 and Vergil is 6'5 that's a foot and 2 inch height difference and I just lost my shit over it. I might just be easily amused but I found it really funny and I hope this little fun fact is funny to you too.
