Has DMC Ruined Combat In Other Games for You?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 05:14 PM PST

I'm relatively new to the franchise and I was blown away by the amount of combat capabilities you're provided in DMC.

I was playing the FF7 demo earlier and I legit just couldn't get into the games combat. I'm sorry, I get that it's not a fair comparison, but given how much combat the game (demo I guess) has, it's hard not to compare. I was considering getting the game but now I'm kind of on the fence.

Sad thing is, I'm pretty confident that if I never played DMC, I would've been all over the games combat.

It's also kind of made me look back on the GoW games. I'm kind of seeing now that those games were basically carried by their boss fights and, more importantly, the cinematics. Even then, I would say DMC's boss fights are better in every way when it comes to gameplay. God of War just has more QTEs and cinematics to give it a more epic feel. I still enjoy the game, but the gameplay just seems so barebones when you compare it to DMC.

What about you all? Has DMC made you reevaluate other games in the action genre?

Should Nero gain a teleport in future games?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 05:40 PM PST

    SPOILERS AHEAD:

In Devil May Cry 5, just as Dante and Vergil are about to crash, Nero teleports in between them after regaining his arm and vanishing in a streak of light. Dante and Vergil both have variations of air tricks, do you think Nero should follow in their footsteps and develop his own teleport?

Gameplay wise I know it might be iffy with the introduction of Devil Breakers but what do you guys think?

    Good Charm of this Community

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 09:50 AM PST

I just wanna share this guys of how i'm really happy with this community... There are really some video game Communities that can be toxic or really hard to go into because of how the people treat new and old players... Well not all of them. What i really love about this community is that how people (especially pro players) have passion to help and give tips to the newcomers and even intermediate players like me... like for example the modding community with Vergil playable at DMC5.. (Plz.. Capcom!! Vergil DLC), some cosmetic and even utility mods that enhances the accessibility of the players.. and even pro tips and tricks on how to become a better player... I myself can't be considered pro, i'm still have long ways to go.. as what Vergil said and i will change it a bit : "I NEED MORE PRACTICE"... It also inspires me that when i see pro players doing mad combos.. i'm like: i wanna do that!!!.... And when we did something really stylish, Satisfaction is at its peak.... Well.. there may some people in this community can be toxic.. world is not perfect after all.. but this community shows that even i was so happy i'm part of the DMC community... I even store some video guides from YT just to watch it over and over again how to master these tricks... I just wish this community will be much stronger and help each other while we're having fun playing the DMC franchise... I will give credits to the people who never stop doing what they love for this community. Modders, Pro players doing mad combos and doing some guides, and we just the Demon Hunters overall.. I hope everyone will be a really stylish Demon Hunter and enjoy on what they doing..

You know, i'm glad that dmcv exists. not only does it make nero an important character, it uses him to address the biggest problem i had with dmc3.

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 03:11 AM PST

dmc3, despite how amazing it is, has one massive problem. dante and vergil are enemies, they worked together once throughout the entire game and afterward, the two fight to the death. Dmc4 sorta touched on the idea by way of implication that this was the most depressing sort of way for that game to end, they came to blows over an irreconcilable difference and dante's interactions with nero shows he clearly regrets how that turned out when he just up and lets nero have his father's sword without really explaining why. this moment to me was like the exact opposite of what took place between dante and vergil in dmc3, where dante asked why he needed the power of sparda and vergil rebuffs him and ignores the question. here, in dmc4 dante's in a very, very similar situation, but unlike in dmc3 he relents and lets nero have the sword, for better or for worse.

So dmc5 rolls around and dante's got this borderline psychotic fixation with killing vergil after his first defeat, the way the game portrays the situation it makes dante's iron focus on doing this one thing, killing vergil to save redgrave, seem like his only character quality. the problem is, redgrave is already a dead town, he's already failed to save anyone, and when you take a step back and really look at the way dante's acting, it becomes very clear that dante is constantly displaying a major character flaw, he wants to kill vergil no matter what, and he doesn't want nero to know anything. in fact, it's almost like he's going out of his way to hide this from nero. to me this was what made me sorta wonder if dante wasn't, in his own roundabout way, sort of a villain in dmc5, because he spends more time focusing on his own brother than taking care of his friends or even listening to his client. dante in dmc5 is visibly arrogant and out to kill vergil, which almost feels like a slap in the face when you take the moment between him and nero in dmc4 into consideration. and i think it's because dante really doesn't want nero to know what he did to vergil, his history with vergil, because it really is an unfortunate mistake that spiraled out of control.

Nero, on the other hand, starts his character arc wanting revenge for his humiliating defeat, but when dante finally gives up on hiding it and explains to nero who vergil is, nero has a major crisis before doing what dante should've done in dmc3. he tries to repair the broken family that the sparda bloodline has become. it's a great way to sort of give the message of 3 the middle finger while also addressing the major problem with 3's resolution, that of constant escalation. the whole city of redgrave died because this rivalry got out of hand, nero calming it down and forcing the sons of sparda to get along is great because it's a wholesome ending to that story and made me seriously respect nero as a character, whereas before he was always sort of just "that guy with the arm" here he's a major character whose story brings closure to one of the most tragic stories in the devil may cry franchise. so while dmcv isn't perfect, i love it because it finally gave me something i always wanted to see, dante and vergil actually trying to be a family, even if they're still beating each other up, it's no longer a fight of hatred, it's just them bonding.

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 08:00 AM PST

I love this series but I suck at it :(

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 04:21 AM PST

After enjoying DMC5 a lot, I gave DMC4 a try with Vergil. While I find him fun to play, I must say that I'm also pretty bad with him. Best I did with Bloody Palace with him is stage 44. I always lose a huge chunk of my HP to Blitz (Why did you have to create Blitz, Capcom!)

I also am not very good at timing for perfect judgment cuts. As I said, even though I am a fan, not managing to beat BP is really disheartening for me to keep playing. Just wanted to share my frustration. Thanks for reading this

If Nero had a rival, who's traits would remind him so much of Credo's since his death?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 01:55 PM PST

With Credo dead, would you imagine a former holy knight as Nero's rival and one of his newfound comrades?

He/she would be the one of the last few people to take up the Ascension ceremony taking on a DT similar to Credo's.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHSQdLSs6Z4

"New character": Credo died because of you!

Nero: It's not my fault! If you wanna blame somebody, blame the Order's leader who started it all!

    ~

    "New character": What?

Nero: Sorry. You're just reminding me so much of Credo. Part of me misses him... after all he's taught me over the years.

"New character": I'm just trying to carry his ideals when it comes to exterminating demons. You're just lucky he and Kyrie found you on the streets. However... you're honoring him well. And... guess I'm starting to look up to you now.
