Putting in Some work on V

Not only Dante and Vergil are opposites, but also Rebellion and Yamato are opposites in their functions.

    Posted: 15 Dec 2019 12:59 PM PST

First to state the obvious, Dante and Vergil are complete opposites in their design. Red vs blue, casual vs serious, even their vocabulary are opposites.

Their signature weapons, Rebellion and Yamato are also opposites in their general applications. Claymores are relatively slower, big weapons with a lot of power behind their swings. Meanwhile Katanas are all about speed and precision.

So the weapon designs are also opposites, however there is one more flavourful feature in which Rebellion and Yamato are opposites.

While it's not specificly stated, it is too much of a glaring thing to be a coincidence. Rebellion unites and Yamato separates.

Yamato is the weapon that is able to cut through anything and separate anything. It doesn't just cut through any physical object. It can cut through worlds. It can cut through space itself. It separates the Human world and the Demon world. Even more, it's able to separate people.

When you cut an object with Yamato you slice it into pieces. When you cut at space you are able to cut open space itself and create "portals". When you cut at a "person" you are able to separate them from themselfs(the only time is what Vergil does to himself in 5) . It's like it's special function is to "separate" anything.

Meanwhile Rebellion does the opposite. There are only two times somebody got stabbed by the Rebellion, and they are both referenced by DMC5 as an important moment. When Dante got stabbed by Rebellion in DMC3 it awakened hes demonic power. Since part of Dante's character development in DMC 3 is him accepting hes demonic side, I don't think it's too far fetched to say that Dante's "human side" and "demonic side" was separated within him, since he didn't accept both of hes sides. But when he is stabbed by the Rebellion, and after hes first fight with Vergil on top of the Teme Ni Gru is when hes demonic powers awaken, and also when he starts to come to terms with hes demonic side and starts to use devil trigger form. The second time is in DMC 5, when Rebellion combines the Sparda Sword, Dante and Rebellion itself.

I thought it's an interesting observation, and I don't think it was obvious to everybody. Yamato has an extra function to separate, meanwhile Rebellion has a function to bring things together. I'm pretty confident that this is unconfirmed cannon, since it's shoved in out faces what happens when Vergil stabs himself with Yamato, and Dante stabs himself with Rebellion, and the results are opposites, and also Dante points out to the audience that he was also stabbed in DMC 3 and stuff happened.

If I upgrade the Stinger skill to level 2 on Alastor, will it do more damage? Or should I just get a specific skill for Ifrit?

Winning Action GOTY means more for Itsuno than it does the DMC franchise and DMC5 but the series future is bright nonetheless

    Posted: 15 Dec 2019 07:15 PM PST

Whatever plans Capcom had or didn't had for 5 and future projects won't change....much. They've already said 5 revitalized the franchise, they're going to treat like a core franchise alongside RE, SF, and MH, and they've recently hired a bunch of new staff who are ready and excited to work on DMC (their words exact).

Winning this aware more means Itsuno will be held in higher regard in the company and thus might be given even more creative freedom, more budget, and more support for his projects. He might be entered into the annals of the company's history as a legacy developer and director alongside Mikami, Ono, Kamiya, Akira, and others. Before Itsuno was just seen as that guy who made some really good fighting games (that tend to get overshadowed by SF and MvC) and DMC3. Now he will be seen as the director of the AWARD WINNING and massive critical success DMC5. With his new clout Capcom might give him the full support he needs to make DD2 his true dream game (if he works on that). Just hope he doesn't go nuts like Kojima and no one is there to stop him.

As for DMC5 and DMC as a whole well this just means Capcom can obnoxiously have GOTY plastered over whatever rerelease or Special Edition they do and marketing.

    Devil breaker swap

    Posted: 15 Dec 2019 02:08 PM PST

Is there a way to swap to different devil breakers while in combat or mission? I have 5 in my magazine and didnt know if you can swap back and forth between them. This is my first time ever playing dmc so I'm still learning. Thanks.
